Buffalo Bills and Sabres Sunday!

Hi Everyone,

Anyone else just wake up from their food and football induced coma? Anyone else like me dreaming it was Sunday already? As Matt mentioned earlier this week we have quite the double feature this weekend. Our resurgent Bills take on the Jaguars at 1pm and the high flying Sabres take on the Rangers at MSG at 7pm. We have 62 people sitting together in Section 321 and hundreds more spread out throughout the Garden. If you don’t have tickets yet I strongly recommend you find some! The Sabres have scored 7 goals in each of their last two games and are the top team in the league. I can’t think of a better way to pre-game than enjoying the specials at Little Buffalo and watching the Bills build on the momentum of last week. If you can’t make it in be sure to watch it on TV and listen as our many “Let’s Go Buffalo” chants shake the building.

After the Bills game everyone at Little Buffalo can get together and head over to Tracks (located in Penn Station by the LIRR) for some more pregaming. Afterwards Tracks will be open again to celebrate our victory. Also feel free to stop by Section 321 during intermission and say Hi to everyone. If you have any questions stop by Calico Jacks – I’ll be the guy in the White vintage jersey. Granted, you’ll see a lot of those! I’ll be the one near Matt and the newest NYCBBB member – Thomas Kabel.

Go Bills, Go Sabres, Rangers Suck!

Buffalo Bills vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

Hello all!

To all of you that didn’t bother watching the Bills/Texans game last week, shame on you! It was the most exciting, satisfying Bills game to watch in years! Could that be the breakout game for JP Losman after throwing 3 touchdown passes including two 83 yarders and a game winner?

Find out this Sunday as the Bills take on the Jaguars at home starting at 1pm. Calico Jacks and McFadden’s will be open and ready for us to rock and roll!

We know hundreds of you will be attending the Sabres/Rangers game that night at MSG, so make it a Buffalo Day by watching the Bills with NYCBBB then marching over to MSG to watch the Sabres take down the Rangers. Kevin Smith will email details about the hockey game later this week.

I’m very excited as my 3 month old, Thomas, will make his first appearance at NYCBBB this Sunday. He’s got his Bills clothes all ready and was smiling about it yesterday!!! Or was that just his gas? Hmm…

Happy Thanksgiving to all!!!!!!!

GO BILLS!!! GO SABRES!!!!

Buffalo Bills at Houston Texans

Hello all!!!

Yes I’m still alive, our new little (actually he’s above the 95th percentile in height and weight at 10 weeks) Bills fan has kept us busy, and work has brought me to Buffalo the last three weekends. Last week was a heartbreaker, but that was chalked up as a loss before the season ever started. And by the way, the Bills weren’t going to win that game on a Lindell field goal, they needed a touchdown to win and couldn’t do it.

This week the odds are in our favor as our ‘down but not out’ Bills head to Houston to take on a tough but beatable Texans team. Buffalo will face former Bills’ great Eric Moulds for the first time, which will make for an exciting game! Looks like Chris Villiarial is out for the season so youngster Duke Preston will be starting at right guard in his place. It will be interesting to see how the young line plays, as most will be the foundation for years to come!

Isn’t it a little strange how the veterans who were going to likely be replaced next year keep getting hurt?

There’s no better place to watch the game than with NYCBBB at McFadden’s and Calico Jack’s on 42nd and 2nd. Kickoff is at 1pm and the all you can drink beer and eat wings specials run from 12-5pm. You can call Calico’s at 212-557-4300 to reserve tables, which I’m looking forward to being back there this Sunday to root the team on!

Yeah the Bills aren’t doing so great, but is there anything better on a nice fall Sunday afternoon than sitting down, having a beer, stuffing your face with wings, and watching Buffalo Bills football? In two months you’re going to wish it was this time of the year again, so don’t let it pass by! Don’t be that guy…DON’T BE THAT GUY!!

See you there!

Danbury Bills Backers
I caught the Packers game with the Danbury Bills Backers at Billie Bean’s in CT and had a great time! The owner, John, is a huge Bills fan which is evident with the Bills paraphernalia around the bar. He even has the game on two HDTV screen TVs, which was amazing at how clear the picture was! If you live in the area, def stop by and talk to John, he loves to have Bills fans watch the game with him, of which there were 15 or so when I was there.

Bills/Jets Tailgate
Kevin Smith will be sending out info soon, but as a heads up NYCBBB will be throwing its annual Tailgate again in Lot 16C. We’ll likely have beer and other beverages again this year, so plan on being there!

Buffalo Sabres
Hey…if you’ve jumped off the Bills bandwagon, there’s plenty of room on the Sabres’! Email Kevin Smith if you’re interested in watching the best team in hockey at kevin@nycbbb.com!

Buffalo Bills at Indianapolis Colts

Hi Everyone,

Is it Friday already? In an earlier email I mentioned how quickly the week passes when the Bills do well on Sundays. This past Sunday was quite the doozie with the Bills escaping with a heart pounding victory and the Sabres bringing their high flying act just down the street. Everyone at Calicos, McFadden’s and MSG enjoyed themselves immensely.

The Bills defense channeled the great bend-but-don’t-break teams of the 90s while scoring a TD and forcing/recovering 4 turnovers. Brian Moorman and the kicking teams resurrected the great “MVP” chants from Little Buffalo with a number of BOOMING kicks. The offense is still a major work in process, especially with the loss of Willis McGahee to broken ribs. As painful as they were to watch at times, they did NOT turn the ball over and at the end of the game they came through with a big TD pass from JP to Lee Evans.

So what’s their reward for playing their first solid game in a long time? They get to travel with Indy to play the 8-0 Colts. Now, having been at the game in Chicago I can say first hand they have their work cut out for them. However, the Colts are due for a let down after beating the Pats last week and they do have their weaknesses. Backup Anthony Thomas created a feeding frenzy among Fantasy Football owners last week with a very strong performance. The Colts are horrible against the run so if the defense continues their strong play and the offensive doesn’t screw it up….well who knows. By the way, has anyone seen TKO? I heard he’s back but you could have fooled me. Time to step it up big man!

Calicos
I know there was some confusion regarding Calicos and reservations for last week. They were having some problems and thought they wouldn’t be ready for us on Sunday. Unfortunately, we didn’t realize they weren’t accepting reservations and couldn’t let you all know. Fortunately, everything was straightened out by Sunday and we had our usual packed house. Just to be clear Calicos is still open on Sundays and should be for the rest of the year. If you ever have any questions or confusion during the week please email us and let us know.

Now everyone take off and enjoy this beautiful weather! See you all Sunday.

Buffalo Bills vs. Green Bay Packers

Hi Everyone,

The Bills start the second half of their season this Sunday at 1pm. The Bills are at home against the Green Bay Packers and the human interception himself Brett Farve. This Bills are coming off their bye week and should have a winning gameplan in place. The biggest change is the reshuffling of the offensive line, which if you ask me if like the ol’ “lipstick on a pig” joke but what do I know? Our best player, Jason Peters, is now playing left tackle with Mike Gandy moving to left guard and rookie Terrance Pennington takes over at right tackle.

Keep in mind the NYC Marathon is Sunday so be sure to check your travel plans so you don’t miss a minute of the action!

Sabres
The Sabres are now 11-0-1 on the Season after a thrilling come from behind win last night in Boston. They play the Rangers at MSG this Sunday at 5pm. I know a lot of people are planning to go and if you are you should definitely be at Little Buffalo for some pregame tailgating. Make sure you wear your Sabres gear so people that are headed to the game can meet up. If you have any extra tickets or know of anyone who does please let me know because there are a LOT of people who want to go to this game.

Also, if you are late to the bandwagon of the BEST TEAM in the NHL you should catch up on all the action at the Blue Moon Saturday night when the Sabres are at home against the hated Leafs. Kick off a great 24 hours of sports the right way by watching the HIGHEST SCORING TEAM crush the punks from Toronto.

If you listen real close you can hear us shouting “Let’s Go Buffalo” at the 2 minute mark of the Islanders game. To join in on all the fun email me and tell me you want to be added to the Sabres email list to ensure you get all the updates on the MOST EXCITING TEAM in hockey.

Sorry, got a little distracted there. Go Bills! Good luck to who is running or knows anyone running this weekend! See you Sunday!

Breast Cancer Awareness

Hello again,

Member Kirsten Smith thought it would be a good idea for us to spread the word about the Bills’ “Billieve Think Pink Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign.” And we agreed.

Here the info taken from buffalobills.com:
“The Buffalo Bills, Kaleida Health, Zeta Tau Alpha and The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation Western New York Affiliate have teamed up to launch the “Billieve – Think Pink” breast cancer awareness campaign in support of National Breast Cancer awareness month. Prior to Sunday’s game at Ralph Wilson Stadium, volunteers from the Bills Women’s Association, Kaleida Health, the Susan G. Komen Foundation, Buffalo Jills and members of the Zeta Tau Alpha fraternity will distribute 5,000 ribbons.”

The Bills are selling “Billieve – Think Pink” merchandise on buffalobills.com. The Bills will donate $5 for every sale.

On that note, we get requests from time to time to support various other charities. We are more than willing to help. But you have to help us help you. The best way for us to help you spread the word is if you post a note on our message board and provide details about the charity and its cause. Then we will pick up the link from the board and link it in our e-mails.

On another note, I want to see Tom Brady eat some field turf on Sunday.

What Can I Say?

Hi,

You would think that from being a Bills fan for so long, I’d be immune to the suffering from the rollercoaster of emotions the team puts me though. I’m sure a ton of you feel the same way. I thought Detroit would be the true test to see how they rebound from the devastating loss to the Bears–and I thought they would prevail. Well they failed, and once again I felt like my emotions were used as a punching bag. But it’s Thursday now and you know what!?! This week’s game will be the NEW true test to see if the team can overcome a devastating loss to the Bears followed by a miserable dud against an 0-5 Lions team. I’m confident… wait…, no, not again… I don’t know, what can I say? Ok, I’m being melodramatic.

I’m exhausted from writing that. Let me leave the writing to the pros.

Like Nick, who breaks down week 7 in his latest column:
https://www.nycbbb.com/columns/101806.shtml

And Phil, who explains why we shouldn’t throw in the towel:
https://www.nycbbb.com/columns/101606.shtml

After a loss, I’m usually “Richardsonian” from Monday-Thursday and then maybe a little bit “Churchillian” by Friday and Saturday. Sundays I’m usually Levyian (I made that one up!), although like Thurman Thomas, I need a dictionary.

Was this a disturbing rant? Sorry, but I feel a little better now that I got all of that off my chest.

Remember, there will be beer at Little Buffalo!!!

Nick Flickinger’s Week 6 Preview

Hey Everyone,

Come to Little Buffalo this Sunday and watch the Bills rebound from the mauling they received last week against the Bears. Please, Dick, quit the Mularkey. Put the trick plays away until the team can execute the basics first.

Check out Nick Flickinger’s Week 6 Preview here:

Leave some comments for crying out loud!!!

Buffalo Bills at Chicago Bears

Hello all 1,600+ NYC Bills fans!!!

Sorry for the delay in the weekly email, I knew at some point we’d get it out!

The Bills travel to the Windy City today to take on the Da Bears Sunday at 1pm. Most NFL ‘Experts’ are calling the Bears the best team in football, and rightfully so. They have what many are saying is the best defense since the 85 Bears. That’s good news for Buffalo, since ex Chicago Coach Perry Fewell has implemented Lovie Smith’s same system here. The man who Lovie replaced, Dick Jauron, makes his first trip back to Chicago as a head coach. Throw in the fact that Rueben Brown, Mike Gandy, and Damien Shelton are all facing their former teams as well, and this is one heck of an emotional match up!

So tomorrow, come on down to 42nd and 2nd to watch the Bills with your fellow NYCBBB members at either McFadden’s or Calico Jack’s! Doors open at 11am and the specials begin at noon.

This game will dictate how far the Bills have come since last year, and if they are truly an up and coming team. Chicago (4-0) is due for a letdown, and the Bills have a chance at making that happen!

Sabres
The Sabres picked up right where they left off, and are already playing at a playoff caliber level. If you want to join the NYC Sabres Backers mailing list, sign up on our homepage! Kevin Smith will be coordinating trips to games here and in Buffalo! The group also meets at the Blue Moon on the Upper East Side for many of the games.

Pictures
With Anna gone, NYCBBB’s website is hurting for pictures. If you take pictures and want to get them up on the site, please email Matt Soreco.

Week 4 Recap and Sabres Opener

Hi Everyone,

A Bills win really begins the week on the right note doesn’t it? Monday flies by and the next thing you know it’s Wednesday and you are already looking forward to Sunday. JP, in only his 11th career start looked much improved compared to the Jets game and is really growing into a quality NFL quarterback (keep in mind Peyton Manning was 3-13 in his first 16 starts). Willis had some devastating blocks as well as a great goalline leap for a TD. They are both going to have to be at the top of the game this week for the Bills to have a chance in Chicago.

Jets Tailgate Thanks!
Wanted to pass along a quick thanks to everyone that stopped by our tailgate at the Jets game in Buffalo. The weather and game were a little bit of a downer but once again we had a great tailgate. Thanks again to everyone and I’ll be sure to pass along when Michelle’s NFL films piece will air. Everyone mark their calendars for Dec 10th, the Jets game in the swamp and our 5th Anniversary Tailgate Party!

Sabres
The Sabres kick off the new NHL season tonight at 7 and once again we will be partying hard at the Blue Moon (75th and 1st). The Sabres are widely considered one of the best teams in the NHL and the seats are always more comfy if you hop the on bandwagon early. Also, we will have the Mets (yeah!) and Yankees (boo!) playoff games on as well. As an added bonus, we’ll be picking one fan at random to be the starting pitcher for the Mets in Game 3 (just kidding, maybe). Labatt Blue Bottles are $3 during the game and there will be extended Happy Hour food and drink specials as well.

Sabres Tickets
Like last year we have purchased a number of seats to the Sabres/Rangers game at MSG on Nov. 26th, which is the Sunday after Thanksgiving. We had a great time last year and both teams are looking good this year so it is shaping up to be a very exciting game. Tickets are $35 a piece and please email me if you are interested for more details.

I’ll be at the game in Chicago this weekend so keep your fingers crossed I make it out alive!
