Last Game!

Hello all,

It’s hard to believe, but here we are at the end of yet another Bills season: The Battle for Break-Even (as in an 8-8 record). And to think, I only recovered from the Broncos home opener about two weeks ago.

Much like the Western NY community supported the Bills this year by making every game a sellout, McFadden’s and Calico Jack’s have been pretty much packed all year, during good times and lean times. Let’s keep it going one more week: come watch one final game in 2007, get a head start on New Year’s celebrating, and say “see you in September” — except for the draft, naturally.

All of the usual specials will be in effect. Hope to see you on Sunday.

Meanwhile, for your reading pleasure, you can check out the latest column and other stuff at nycbbb.com.

Buffalo Bills vs. New York Giants

Hello all,

Say what you want about the Bills. I, for the first time in a long time, am proud of the team and convinced they are headed in the right direction. After perusing the videos and press conferences on buffalobills.com, I’ve noticed that most of the guys are well spoken and classy. Marv said he’d bring in and keep high character players. I think it’s starting to take shape.

Plus the Bills have extra draft pictures in the 3rd and 4th rounds and from what I’m reading on the web, the Bills have plenty of cap space (4th most in the league). They are young, smart, and there is plenty of room for growth.

I hadn’t been a Jauron fan at all, but I have to say he’s kept the team motivated and disciplined. With Fairchild leaving, please Dick, break the streak of bad OCs. Get someone in who can put together a solid gameplan!

Hey! Congrats to Jason Peters who made the Pro Bowl!

The Bills play the Giants this Sunday at 1pm. You know the deal. And speaking of Peters, he’ll take on pro bowl DE Osi Umenyiora. Should be an exciting matchup.

Michelle, a former NYCBBB staff member and current NFL Films staff (and Philly Backers founder!) wanted us to pass this along to anyone going or considering going to the Philly game:

“NFL Films (for Inside the NFL) will be doing a piece on Buffalo fan support in cities around the country the weekend of week 17. First we’ll film fans watching the Sabres/Pens game at Barristers (our Sabres bar) on Saturday night (the 29th), and then we’re having a big tailgate party with Kenny in LOT D at the Linc.”

I won’t be there on Sunday. I’ll be home cooking and prepping for Christmas Eve. And watching the game on my own tube of course.

NYCBBB wishes everyone a happy holidays!

See you (next) Sunday,

Matt Soreco

Big Game vs. Cleveland Browns

Hello all,

I don’t need to explain how big Sunday’s game is. Actually, now that I think of it, I don’t remember the last BIG game the Bills played. Or maybe I do, but choose to forget. Be there!!!

Regarding Phil’s column… Notice that I HAVE to be negative in order for the Bills to win. Something bad happens every time I display some hope. Like the bomb and score last week. So if you hear me being ultra negative, it’s for the good of the team, NYCBBB, and America.

Buffalo Bills vs. Skins and Special Guest

Hello all,

Has the Edwards era officially begun? Come on out this Sunday as the Edwards led Bills take on the Skins at 1pm. You know the place, you know the details.

Special Guest Sunday at McFadden’s!
Want to knock some gifts off your family and friends’ lists? This Sunday, Dec. 2nd, we’ll have Buffalo native and former Bills Insider writer Michael Farrell at the bar selling and signing his debut novel, “Running with Buffalo.” Oddly enough, the book features a scene which actually takes place in McFadden’s, so come in, enjoy the game, and pick up a copy or two of “Running with Buffalo.” For more information about the book and the author, please visit Farrell’s web site at:
www.farrellstreet.com.

For a brief synopsis of the story, read the following:
As a young idealist and recent college graduate, Joseph Cahan wanted to settle in his hometown of Buffalo, New York and live a rhythmic life surrounded by his childhood friends, close-knit Irish Catholic family, and a Cahan clan of his own. In the nine months following his graduation, though, life proves a vast contrast to his vision. Through heartbreaking and humorous chapters, author and Buffalo native Michael Farrell relays through Cahan the lament of a new generation, full of young adults trying to deal with life’s unexpected complexities. Amongst this confusion, some still yearn for the simple inherent truths that are sometimes found in the most logical of places. This duel between head and heart is the soul of his debut novel, “Running with Buffalo.”

Buffalo Bills vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

Hello all 1,740 NYC Bills fans!

Long time no talk, Soreco had a winning streak going when he sent emails, so we didn’t want to mess with that. Well, after the Sunday night debacle against the Patriots we can put that concern to bed. Most of us knew that would be a loss anyway, so its time to look ahead to this week’s matchup against the Jaguars. The game is Sunday at 1pm and will be shown at both McFadden’s and Calico Jack’s.

The Bills are still .500 and in the thick of the playoff hunt, so wash down that turkey dinner with an ice cold Labatt Blue and catch the game with your fellow Bills fans.

As always, check out www.BillsDaily.com for up to date news on our Buffalo Bills.

The Kabel family made our first trip this season to 42nd and 2nd to catch the game, and my 14 month old had a blast, If you have kids, Calicos is a great place to watch the game with them. I have to say, I was shocked to only recognize a handful of you at the bars, and realized how big we have come from that table of 20 of us watching the Bill/Jets home opener 6 years ago.

Speaking of kids, congrats to Matt and Eileen Soreco who are expecting their first kid! Jeez Matty, we’re getting old.

We hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Matt “talkin proud and enjoying watching games on our apartment floor with the kid” Kabel

Buffalo Bills vs. New England Patriots

Reminder!! The game this week against the Pats is at 8:15 on Sunday. The specials will run from 7pm thought the end of the game.

How will the Bills fare without BEAST MODE?

Great news! We’ve added Mike Coniaris to our staff. You might have noticed him snapping pictures this year.

Buffalo Bills vs. Miami Dolphins

Hello all,

Well, well, well. Look at what we have here. The hot 4-4 Bills take on the stinkin’ fish this week. Lets hope the sun glare off the empty teal seats doesn’t get in Lee Evans’ eyes.

Hey, do you think the ’72 Dolphins will toast champagne when the ’07 Dolphins cap off a perfect 0-16 season?

Time change next week!
Next week’s game against the Pats has been moved to 8:15.

Buffalo Bills vs. Cincinnati Bengals

Hello all,

One game away from .500! Who would have thunk it? And to think, 2 last minute field goals away from being 5-2. Too much thinking–I need a beer.

We got the Bengals this Sunday at 1. Be there!

Buffalo Bills at New York Jets 4pm, Tailgate Time!

“It’s deja-vu all over again!”

Any overly astute NYCBBB member may recognize the title of this email from my “Ready to Tailgate in the Swamp for the 5th Consecutive year email” last year. I figure everything went so well that I should stick with what works, with the exception of trumpeting the fact that’s it’s our Now Legendary 6th Annual Tailgate Party and due to all the parking regulations at the Meadowlands is sure to be the one that really pisses off the most Jets fans!

As usual we will be in Lot 16, Pole C. The basic rundown is that without a pre-paid parking pass you will NOT be allowed into the parking lots. We have confirmed that the info in our last email about being allowed in early without a pass is FALSE. However there are a lot of parking passes available on ebay and some of them can be emailed to you so keep an eye out.

Beer n’ Food
We’re still coordinating what we are doing in terms of providing a keg and it looks like we will have one there. Since we have no idea how many people will be there we are not going to throw an official “$5 all you can drink special” like in years past. If you can I would suggest bring a spare 6 pack just to be sure. There will be plenty of grill space around, so feel free to bring food to cook. If you are traveling by bus or are parking in the satellite lot let me know if you would be interesting in having someone with a car bring beer or food to 16-C. A number of folks with parking passes have offered to help bring supplies as long as people are willing to chip in and cover the cost. Please email me if you are interested and/or have any questions.

Tickets for the Game
I have 2 spare tickets in the Mezzanine, Section 234, Row 2. $100 for the pair (I think face is $75 or $105). There are also a couple of tickets mentioned in the comments section of our blog. Check it out. Also there are usually a number of spare tickets floating around the tailgate, especially when the Jets are this bad so don’t hesitate to come if you don’t have a seat. Let me know if you are interested in tickets and I’ll try to coordinate.

Send me an email if you have any questions and I look forward to seeing everyone bright and early in the Swamp on Sunday.

J-E-T-S SUCK SUCK SUCK!
