Buffalo Bills at Atlanta Falcons

Hello all 1,921 NYC Bills Fans!

Just sending off a quick note before I head to the in-laws for Christmas Eve supper and enjoy 9 courses of seafood and lots of wine over a 6 hour period. I’m getting emotionally and physically prepared for what my stomach is about to encounter.

The Bills head to Atlanta to take on the Falcons this Sunday at 1pm. Got family in town for Christmas? Head down to McFadden’s and Calico Jack’s to watch the game with fellow Bills fans! Specials start at noon and run through to the end of the game.

It is looking like Brian Brohm will get the start. Brohm, formally of the Packers, was a 2nd round pick in the draft last season and has a ton of potential, but was released by the Packers after poor showings in training camp. With Trent Edwards on IR and Fitzpatrick banged up, look for the 2nd year pro to get the start.

I have tix to the Colts game finale, email me if interested.

From all of us at NYCBBB, we wish you all a safe and Happy Holiday!

Buffalo Bills at Kansas City Chiefs

Hello all 1,922 NYC Bills fans!

The Bills are in Kansas City today as they take on the Chiefs, a team that is a year ahead of us in the rebuilding phase. Kickoff is at 1pm and there’s no better place to catch it than at McFadden’s and Calico Jack’s on 42nd and 2nd. Specials start at noon and run until the end of the game.

Its the holiday season, the best time of the year to be in Manhattan. What better excuse to head into the city to check out the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree, Macy’s, and the decorated windows on 5th Avenue which are all just a short walk from the bars!

Be sure to check out www.BillsDaily.com and www.BuffaloRumblings.com for all the latest Bills news.

Its nice to see the Sabres are good again, they beat the Rangers last night, BOOYAH!

Jets vs. Bills Thursday Night Football

Hello all 1,923 NYC Bills fans!

First off, if you haven’t already read it you gotta check out this outstanding article by Buffalo native and huge Bills fan Nick Bakay on the current state of the Buffalo Bills:
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d814a7a0b/article/all-this-bills-fan-wants-for-christmas-is-ron-wolf

I would love to see the Bills bring in a big time GM like Ron Wolf to clean out the front office and pick our next head coach, instead of overpaying a Head Coach to come in here and giving them way too much control. C’mon Ralph, fix this organization top to bottom the way it should be done! Although Matt Soreco disagrees with me on that. What are your thoughts?

Reading that article I had to say Bakay did Bills fan proud, and made me think of and miss good ol’ Tim Russert.

Also got word via Thurman Thomas on Twitter that he and his son along with Jim Kelly went into the Bills locker room before the game Sunday and were disrespected by some of the current Bills for being outspoken about the team’s passion this season, to the point where Thurman’s son was upset. Here’s to hoping these thin-skinned wimps are playing on another team next season.

On Thursday night, the Bills take on the NJ Jets in their annual Toronto game. Did you see that Dolphins game? Where was this Bills team all season. Gutsy and were exciting to watch, maybe the Bills should have canned Jauron at the end of the year like fans wanted. Kickoff for the Jets game is at 8:20pm, specials will start at 7pm and run through the end of the game. In addition, the bar will offer $3 PINTS OF LABATT BLUE AND HALF PRICED APPETIZERS! Can’t beat that anywhere else in the city!

No better place to catch the Bills than McFadden’s and Calico Jack’s on 42nd and 2nd. For those of you working in the city, could you ask for a better happy hour?

Squish the Fish!

Hello all 1,924 NYC Bills fans!

Well, the Bills are 3-7, but are showing signs of life now that Head Coach Perry Fewell is calling the shots. For the first time in years I actually enjoyed watching our team played, they looked like they were having fun. This week they take on the hated Miami Dolphins in Orchard Park, which always provides for a great game to catch. Kickoff is at 1pm, specials start at noon and run through the end of the game. Besides, what better way to end your Thanksgiving weekend than with beers, wings, and Western New Yorkers?

I hate Miami.

In other news ESPN reported that the Bills met with former Super Bowl winning coach Mike Shanahan this week for 7 hours over two days and he commented that the meeting was “excellent.”

There is hope Bills fans, there is hope for us.

Bills vs. Jags, Huge Changes Coming!

Hello 1,929 NYC Bills fans!

Cowher, Shanahan, Gruden, Dungy, Haslett are some of the coaching names being tossed around for the Bills in 2010. Get your attention?

For anybody that hasn’t heard, Coach Dick Jauron has been fired (finally) and Perry Fewell has taken over as Interim Head Coach. Sorry Ralph, what did you see the last couple games that you didn’t see last year? Well, what’s done is done. It was reported this morning that Jauron actually had a choice, quit or be canned at season’s end. Thanks Dick, for sparing us another two months of this embarrassment.

Great news is there are several reports that Ralph Wilson is set to spend money (gasp) on a big name coach and/or GM for the team. Wilson himself said in an interview this week that he is going to completely overhaul the Front Office, no job is safe. You mean we finally realized the remainder of Tom Donahoe’s front office staff have given us a playoff drought of 10 years, and that Russ Brandon is a salesman, not a GM? Sorry, you can tell I have quite a bit of bitterness in me. However if Ralph is ready to right the ship, then I’m fired up for this long overdue rebuilding process. We might not be able to lure a top coach here, but a solid GM and coach would be better than what we’ve experienced for the last decade. I still can’t believe that Bill Polian was fired.

Oh yes, Trent Edwards has been benched and the Bills brought in another young QB from Green Bay to backup Fitzpatrick who is now starting. Looks like the Edwards experiment has ended.

Alas, we must survive the remainder of this season, but now its a hell of a lot more tolerable with light at the end of the tunnel. The Bills travel to Florida to take on the Jaguars this Sunday at 1pm. Specials start at noon and run through the end of the game. It won’t be televised locally so head down to McFadden’s and Calico’s to catch it, and chat with friends about what is going to be an awesome off-season.

Buffalo Bills vs. Tennessee Titans

Hello all 1,929 NYC Bills Fans!

And happy Friday the 13th!

We hope everybody enjoyed their bye weekend and were able to do something productive at home, with family, or with your friends. The Bills (3-5) return to action this Sunday as they take on the Tennessee Titans (2-5) at 1pm. It was announced that Trent Edwards will be returning to the starting lineup, and our #2 pick last year, WR James Hardy, has been reactivated. C’mon down to McFadden’s & Calico Jack’s to catch the game, drink/wing specials start at noon and run until the final gun.

Hey…they could actually win this one…

Bob Kalsu
With this being Veteran’s Day week, I wanted to be sure and send out this tribute on Bob Kalsu. Kalsu was the Bills’ Rookie of the Year in 1968 before going off to Vietnam where we was killed in action in 1970. He was the first NFL player to be killed in battle, and is a true hero:

Bills vs. Texans

Hello 1,937 Bills Fans,

With a 2 game road winning streak the Bills return home this week at 1pm to face the Houston Texans. Trent Edwards is still out with the concussion he sustained in the Jets game, and next week is a bye, so it’s Ryan Fitzpatrick’s last chance to prove he’s a better quarterback. While the offensive play has not gotten much prettier, Fitzpatrick has at least shown a refreshing willingness to throw the ball deep. It’ll be his first game in the Ralph, so let’s hope he enjoys the comforts of home and we enter the bye week with a three game winning streak and a full blown QB controversy on our hands.

McFadden’s and Calico’s will be rocking as always so come over and enjoy this mini-resurgence with all your Little Buffalo friends. Drink specials start at noon and run until the end of the game. Also, it’s daylight savings time on Sunday, so be sure to set your clocks back an hour.

Jets Game Wrap-up:
Thanks to everyone that came out and tailgated with us before the Jets game two weeks ago. I think it was our biggest turnout ever, which is really saying a lot considering how bad things looked before the game. Hopefully everyone enjoyed themselves at the tailgate and stuck around long enough afterwards to watch all the sad Jets fans leave the parking lot. I know I did.

Marathon:
This Sunday is the 40th NYC Marathon. It’s an amazing event that showcases the best of the city and I’d like to encourage everyone to head out before the game to watch and cheer on the runners. I’ll be out there running this year so if you see a guy in a Bills shirt sure be sure to yell extra loud because I’ll need the help to finish fast enough to get to Calicos for the second half! Good luck to any other runners out there!

4pm Tailgate in the Swamp!

“Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays the NYCBBB from throwing our 7th Annual Tailgate Extravaganza!”

Hi All 1,943 Diehard Bills Fans,

It’s that time of year again, when we take over Lot 16, Pole C and show those disgusting Jets fans the true meaning of Tailgating! The weather forecast is pretty gross but that won’t stop us. Pack your jackets, boots, hats and mittens (all waterproof of course) and join us! On a personal note, this is my 6th year running the tailgate, and my 7th tailgate overall and I’m not going to let a little rain dampen my fun and neither should you!

Here are the details – Kickoff is 4pm, and we’ll have things up and running by 12ish. We’ll be in Lot 16, by Pole C. Look for the huge collection of Red, White and Blue in the sea of puke green. If you plan on driving you MUST pre-purchase a parking pass. Ebay and Stubhub have a bunch on sale if you need one.

McFadden’s was nice enough to donate beer and Bloody Marys and we’ll be selling $5 wristbands as a fundraiser for our annual operating costs. The Bloody Marys are always a huge hit so get there early if you want some. We don’t supply food but there is always plenty of grill space so feel free to bring food.

For those of you not venturing into the swamp, McFadden’s and Calicos will be showing the game with the usual specials.

Cleveland Browns at Buffalo Bills

Hello all 1,937 NYC Bills Fans!

Awful. Disgusting. Disturbing.

No I’m not discussing the Miami game nor the current state of our team (what do you expect when you have a marketing guy as your GM and two guys making all personnel decisions that have only one winning season in 9 years together?)

I’m actually referring to the new Pizza Hut commercial that I saw on TV that claims to have a bunch of people from Buffalo (including the Wing King) that apparently can’t tell the difference between REAL wings and Pizza Hut’s. If any of those people really are from Buffalo, I have one more word to offer up…sellout.

Back to football, the Bills host the winless Browns this Sunday in Orchard Park. Kickoff is at 1pm and the the specials at McFadden’s and Calico Jack’s run from noon until the end of the game.

To be honest, the Bills play a string of some pretty bad teams, so if they can get their heads out of their you-know-whats (and Trent Edwards see the OPEN RECEIVERS DOWNFIELD and STOPS CHECKING DOWN) we could have a winning record in November and be in the playoff hunt! Be sure to check out www.BillsDaily.com andwww.BuffaloRumblings.com for all the latest news.

Squish the Fish and New Era Giveaway

Hey everybody,

Knock knock.
Who’s there?
Owen.
Owen who?
0-3 and goin’ to be 0-4.

Despite playoff prospects, if there are 2 games a year that matter most to Bills fans, it’s the two times me meet the stinkin’ fish. They are just as banged up as the Bills. We lost McKelvin for the season, but they lost Pennington. Porter looks questionable. Both Whitner and Scott are out at the safety positions this week. Luckily the backup secondary is playing against a green QB in his first NFL start.

But one thing’s certain. BEAST MODE IS BACK! Hey I love what Fred Jackson has done, but Marshawn is a notch or two above, in my opinion.

Please, please, please. AVP, Trent, whoever. Get Owens and Evans involved more. Some how. Some way.

It’ll be another 4:05 start. Hey, what’s up with that? Personally, I love the 1pm starts.

New Era Giveaway!
New Era sent us some pretty cool Buffalo Bills hats and t-shirts to give away. Rather than do something very elaborate, were going to have a simple first come first serve chance drawing. Reach into a bag or something, pull out a ticket, and if it’s a winner you’ll get your choice. Please see me, Matt Soreco, in Calico Jacks this Sunday to take your chance. The only catch… I will take your picture with your winnings. I’ll try to make it in long before kickoff so it’s not too much a distraction during gametime. But we’ll run it until we’re out of goods.

In the meantime, check out their sweet Buffalo Football collection (some of which will be part of the giveaway):

Hope to see you Sunday. My first game at the bars in over a year! Remember, see me for a chance to win New Era gear!!
