Meet Eric Wood This Saturday

Hello all 1,911 NYC Bills fans!

Just a reminder that Buffalo Bills first round draft pick and likely starting Right Guard Eric Wood will be at McFadden’s THIS Saturday from 5-7pm for a meet and greet. Eric will be available to sign autographs and chat about his college career and this upcoming Bills season. He’s known as a player with a mean streak so should be a cool guy to talk to.

From 4-7pm for $25 McFadden’s will be offering all-you-can-drink import/domestic draft beers, call drinks, and wine as well as all-you-can-eat wings. The special is optional but let’s be honest, that is a GREAT deal!

McFadden’s put this together on their own and surprised us with this event, please repay them by coming this Saturday and having a great time.

Meet First Round Pick Eric Wood at McFadden’s!

Hello all 1,915 NYC Bills Fans!

On June 13th, McFadden’s will be holding an all day party starting at 11am called McFadden’s Day where they will be celebrating what the bar is all about. From 5-7pm the bar will be dedicated to you, the members of NYCBBB!

As a huge thank you for watching the games at McFadden’s, the bar is flying in Buffalo Bill first round draft choice Eric Wood, who will be likely starting at Right Guard for the Bills this season. Eric will be there to meet the fans from 5-7pm.

The NERDS, a popular NYC cover band, will be performing from 2-4pm.

The bar is looking to offer a beer/wing special, but wanted to gauge interest first. If you think you’ll be attending, please shoot me an email with a “Hell Yeah!” and the number of people you’re bringing.

Not sure how long he’s in town, but if anybody out there has access to any cool NYC attractions let me know, it’d be great to take care of one of our own while he’s here just as we would with any family member.

Again, shoot me an email if you’ll be there.

And if you don’t know who Eric Wood is, he looks like the kid from Bad Santa:

Although known as a tough SOB, he’d probably throw you through the front window if you asked him about it. Just the kind of guy we need on this team!

GO BILLS! GO SABRES!

Draft Party This Saturday!

Hello all 1,913 NYC Bills fans!

The Bills made headlines yet again this weekend by trading disgruntled Pro Bowl Tackle Jason Peters to the Philadelphia Eagles for the 28th pick in the first round of this weekend’s draft, as well as a 4th rounder and a late pick next year. That gives Buffalo THREE picks on day one of the draft. Shortly after the trade, Peters gave an interview where he admitted to taking plays off last year, so whatever you thought of him, he didn’t want to be in Buffalo anymore.

In addition, there’s word that Roscoe Parrish could be traded this week, as well as Chris Kelsay. What does this all mean? There’s a TON of excitement to be had at this year’s NYCBBB NFL Draft Party! As far as I know, there is no other events like this anywhere in NYC (especially for the price/atmosphere) so if you’re a draft nut, a football fan, or just don’t have anything better to do this Saturday come on down to McFadden’s! You don’t have to be a Bills fan to have a great time, its always a wild party and a lot of fun.

NYCBBB’s EIGHTH Annual Draft Party will be held THIS Saturday. The draft begins at 4pm and McFadden’s will run the following specials from 2-8pm:

$35 – All the draft beer you can drink and wings you can eat
$25 – All the Bud/Bud Lite draft you can drink and wings you can eat
$20 – All the pop you can drink and wings you can eat
$1 off all mixed drinks

The football gods again blessed me as my wife gave birth to our second son (21 inches, 8lb 6oz) this past Saturday so I WILL be able to enjoy the draft! And again I wore a Bills t-shirt to the birth so the first thing that kid saw was the football team he WILL root for.

For the latest news check out NYCBBB’s official news source www.BillsDaily.com and blog www.BuffaloRumblings.com.

See you on Saturday!

Buffalo Lockjaw & Sabres Event Tonight

Hello all 1,911 NYC Bills Fans,

Just wanted to send a quick reminder that you can catch the Sabres/Maple Leafs game tonight at McFadden’s starting at 7:30pm. The bar will be offering $3 drafts and also giving away free copies of Buffalo Lockjaw, the newly released book from Bills fan and NYCBBB member Greg Ames. The Sabres are mathematically still in the playoff hunt, so come on down to 42nd and 2nd to root them on!

A little bit of Bills news – yesterday the Bills resigned Marcus Stroud to a 4 year $29 million deal that will keep him in a Bills uniform through 2012. Great stuff! It also increases the likelihood that Jason Peters will be traded by the draft, which should make the NYCBBBB Draft Party one heck of an event!

Draft Party & Buffalo Lockjaw/Sabres Event

Hello all 1,912 NYC Bills fans!

Its been pretty quiet at One Bills Drive since the Bills signed Terrell Owens. ESPN would like everybody to think the main story is T.O. not showing up to voluntary workouts, but the real story is will the Bills cave in to Pro Bowler Jason Peters’ contract demands? After holding out the entire 2008 off-season and giving up 11.5 sacks (most of any starting left tackle) Peters is looking to become the highest paid tackle in the league, and apparently wants $12 million a year. Some say he’s worth it, some say not, and some say he’s just trying to get traded. Personally, I don’t think he deserves that much and also think he is looking to be traded.

So between now and the end of the NFL Draft, we’ll see if the Bills show STRENGTH by signing him for less money or at least getting a first round draft choice in a trade, or if they show WEAKNESS by giving him what he wants or getting a 2nd rounder or less in a trade. On top of all of that, Jay Cutler is on the trading block with several teams interested. What does that have to do with the Bills? I doubt they have interest, but it could throw the entire draft out of whack, making for an exciting NYCBBB Draft Party!

NYCBBB’s EIGHTH Annual Draft Party will be held on Saturday, April 25th at McFadden’s. Like last year, the draft begins at 3pm and McFadden’s will run the following specials from 1-8pm:

$35 – All the draft beer you can drink and wings you can eat
$25 – All the Bud/Bud Lite draft you can drink and wings you can eat
$20 – All the pop you can drink and wings you can eat
$1 off all mixed drinks

As always, the party is open to all football fans, and we always pack the bar for the entire afternoon. Be sure to check NYCBBB’s official news source www.BillsDaily.comfor all the latest Bills/draft updates!

My wife is due with our 2nd son on April 24th, what are the odds I’ll be watching from a hospital room?

NYCBBB would also like to announce our new partnership with the Bills blogwww.BuffaloRumblings.com. Buffalo Lockjaw
Brooklyn resident, Buffalo native, author and lifelong Bills fan Greg Ames is launching his debut novel titled Buffalo Lockjaw. The novel tells the story of James Fitzroy, a man who grew up in Buffalo and couldn’t wait to flee the city he has a love/hate relationship with for a new life in Brooklyn. James’s mother is suffering from Alzheimer’s, and he drives home for Thanksgiving with a copy of Assisted Suicide for Dummies in the passenger seat. Over that fateful holiday, James reconnects with boozing high school friends, his father and his sister, and the town of Buffalo. As his mother’s condition worsens, James’s subtle allusions to assisted suicide are brushed off by his father and sister, and family tensions are tangible.

The book sounds amazing and I can’t wait to get my hands on it. It can be purchased through our online store at http://astore.amazon.com/newyorcitbufb-20. Or you can potentially get a FREE COPY by coming to McFadden’s on April 8th for the novel’s launch where you can watch the Sabres take on the Maple Leafs as they make their run for the playoffs. The bar will be serving $3 drafts and will be giving away free copies of Buffalo Lockjaw! If you can’t make the event, Greg will be doing signings at Barnes and Nobles in Park Slope and Buffalo, as well as many other locations promoting the book. Check out the website for more details www.buffalolockjaw.com.

Terrell Owens a Bill! Mets

Hello all 1,900+ NYC Bills Fans!

Breaking News!

Terrell Owens, one of the elite wide receivers in the NFL (and also one of its biggest headaches) has signed a one year deal with the Buffalo Bills! One thing you can say for sure, Buffalo is going to receive a TON of media attention this season, which was probably a chunk of the goal with this move.

The Bills get one hell of a wide receiver, someone that will immediately receive the respect of opposing defenses and allow Lee Evans the opportunity to finally reach his potential. He’s an amazing player, even at 35, and will obviously sell tickets, jerseys, and give a much needed spark to the Toronto game.

However Owens is known as a locker room cancer, a huge drama queen, and most teams wouldn’t go near him.

Did the Bills make the right decision? Who knows, but this lifeless off-season that was pointing the Bills towards another losing season just got a jolt of electricity.

By the way, this news just broke as NFL Network is showing The Comeback game….a sign from the football gods?

Keep checking www.BillsDaily.com (who texted me updates, thanks Steve!) andwww.BuffaloRumblings.com for updates.

NY Mets
We received a HUGE response for the Mets game this summer, the potential for 100-200 tickets needed, so we’ll work to get details out ASAP.

Fish Fry
For you fellow Catholics out there, Lent is here. If you miss those great fish fries in Western NY, don’t worry, you can get one here! A chain of British themed restaurants in Brooklyn called Chip Shop offers a Fish n Chips that rivals a TRUE fish fry from WNY, including a pieve of haddock that falls off both ends of the plate and vinegar for your french fries! Updates and NY Mets

Hello all 1,906 NYC Bills Fans!

Free agency started with a boom when the Bills cut Derrick Dockery and Robert Royal from the team, and many anticipated some big free agent signings. However typical of the Bills the last 10 years, they have disappointed us fans so far. They signed a backup QB, Ryan Fitzpatrick, that will not challenge Trent Edwards and will not win games for us if Edwards goes down. They then signed a backup center/guard, Geoff Hangartner, that will apparently be our new starting center. Finally last night they signed backup CB Drayton Florence who will likely compete for the 3rd CB spot on the team.

Owner Ralph Wilson said the Bills were not losing because of Dick Jauron, but losing because the team lacked talent. So we cut 2 starters (and didn’t re-sign 2 more) and in turn signed 3 backups. Is it just me or does that not add up? They did try to go after Laveranues Coles of the Jets, but the Bills were only used as a bargaining tool so he could sign a big contract with the Bengals today. The Bills are hosting some free agents this week and there are talks of some trades in the works for some starting caliber players, so there is still hope. The Bills 100% need to bring in a real #2 WR, a starting guard, and a linebacker through free agency, and can address a defensive end and pass catching TE in the draft with the first two picks. The team needs more talent, let’s hope they get their act together.

As you all know, Flight 3407 crashed outside of Buffalo killing 50 people and NYCBBB would like to send out its condolences to family and friends. If anybody has knowledge of a fund, please let us know and we will send out info to members.

NY Mets
As many of you know, the NY Mets not only have a brand new stadium, but the Buffalo Bisons have become their AAA farm team. An NYCBBB member works for the team and offered to set up a NYCBBB night at Citi Field. We’d have a section of tickets blocked off and could do upper deck for $20 a seat or field level for $40. The Buffalo Bisons may have a Buffalo Night so we may jump on that. Regardless, we will likely throw a pre and/or post party at one of the bars and make a day out of it. First step is determining interest, so if you think this is something you’d like to do please send me an email and let me know. If we get enough interest, we’ll organize it.
