Game Time and Raffle Reminders

Hello all,

I just want to remind everyone that tomorrow’s game was moved to 4:25! The NFL took advantage of the flex scheduling and moved Sunday’s game to 4:25.

Also, McFadden’s and Calicos are doing a $3 drafts deal instead of the usual all you can drink bracelets.

There is still time left to win some great autographed items to help raise funds to support the Kabel family. The three separate prizes are 1) Autographed Jim Kelly Mini Helmet, 2) Autographed Marcell Dareus Mini Helmet, and 3) Autographed Stevie Johnson Jersey.

It’s $5 per entry and you can enter as much as you want. I will do the drawing on 12/31.

Here is more info about the raffle and where to enter:

Hope you all had a happy holidays!

Raffle and Game Time Change

Hello all,

Some important announcements this week!

First, the Patriots game time has moved to 4:25! The NFL took advantage of the flex scheduling and moved Sunday’s game to 4:25. Repeat, 4:25.

Sorry I didn’t get the word out last week, but McFadden’s and Calicos are doing a $3 drafts deal instead of the usual all you can drink bracelets.

Sally Raffle!
The Buffalo Bills sent me some autographed stuff to help raise funds to support the Kabel family. I’ve put them up online and will manage the raffle through Paypal. Don’t miss a chance to win a Jim Kelly autographed mini helmet, an autographed Marcell Dareus mini helmet, and an autographed Stevie Johnson jersey (3 separate prizes). It’s $5 per entry and you can enter as much as you want.

Here is more info about the raffle and where to enter:
https://www.nycbbb.com/notes/support-sally-raffle/

The Buffalo Bills picked up the story too. Check it out:
https://blogs.buffalobills.com/2013/12/23/support-nyc-backer-sweet-sally-sunshines-cancer-fight/

That’s all for now. I’ll probably send a reminder later this week. In the meantime, I hope you all enjoy the holidays!

26 Shirts

Hello all,

Yikes. Last game did not look good. At all. I’m holding back from going in full tirade mode (like some previous years) because the team has some likable and talented guys on it. I’ll save that work for the journalists and more fanatical fans. Plus, at least for me, I have a hard time putting my finger on exactly what’s wrong. Coaching? Players? Some players? Leadership? All players? Most players? One player? QB? WR? Front office? Scouting? Player development? The detergent the equipment staff uses?

I DID want to bring your attention to 26 Shirts. Every 2 weeks they sell a different Buffalo football themed shirt and 100% of the shirts’ profits goes to a family in need.

The current edition, “Frank the Tank,” will benefit our own Matt Kabel and his family to support their daughter Sally’s fight against leukemia. Sales are open through 12/22! http://www.26shirts.com/ I bought mine!

On a side note, I bought the Flash 88 one a few weeks back too. Maybe it’s my age talking, but I put myself on a lifetime ban on mass produced sports merchandise. I can’t help with being frugal when the beneficiaries of my hard earned bucks are multi-million and billion sports teams, leagues, and clothing companies. 26 Shirts’ shirts are unique (i.e. cool) and support families in need.  Win-win!

Also I apologize for the mix-up a few weeks ago when I mentioned that we’d be selling the original Sweet Sally Sunshine shirts at McFadden’s. They WILL be available this week in the main dining area.

Until next time,

Matt Soreco

Atlanta at 4pm Important Announcement

Hello all,

Long time no e-mail. I hope everyone had a very happy and filling Thanksgiving. Two things this week… 1) Change to drink special this week only and 2) Sweet Sally Sunshine t-shirts are available for sale at McFadden’s!

Due to the late start and given where we are in the season, we are not doing the normal drink specials this week. Also, McFaddens is taking reservations. Here are the details:

For this Sunday’s 4:05 Bills vs Falcons:

  • McFadden’s will be taking reservations, starting right now.
  • Call 212-986-1515 and tell them it is for the Bills game.
  • All reservations will start at 3:30.
  • You will need to provide a call-back phone number when reserving.
  • Tables can be reserved for up to 6 people.
  • There will be a $15/person minimum.
  • You will be seated only when your entire party has arrived.
  • In the event that all tables are booked in advance, we will take names on a wait list, first come basis.
  • If your entire party is not present by 4pm the table is lost and it will be given to the first – name on the wait list.
  • We will abandon the $25/$35 bracelet deal. Instead we will offer $3 drafts and/or $12 pitchers (no Guiness).
  • The bar, booths and back bar area are open seating, no reservations.

Remember Calico’s also takes reservations. Their number is 212-557-4300.

Sweet Sally Sunshine T-Shirts
Did you miss out on the last chance to buy Sweet Sally Sunshine tshirts earlier this season? Well we had a whole bunch delivered to McFadden’s. Our good friend Scott with Dear God Why Us Sports will be selling them in the middle section of McFadden’s. T-Shirts are $25 and all the money goes to support the Kabel family during their baby daughter’s ongoing fight against Leukemia. Here is a pic of the t-shirt with 3 find looking gentlemen modeling it: https://www.nycbbb.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/sss.jpg

Very interesting next few games, no?

Are you superstitious?

Hello all,

Long time no e-mail. A few weeks ago I didn’t send out a weekly e-mail. Then the Bills beat Miami and I figured that was it! I didn’t send one last week either, and well that wasn’t it. Hey, I’m trying.

Do you have any gameday/week rituals? If so, I beg you to stop. Shake up the routine. It could be all YOUR fault that the Bills have been in a 14 year funk.

I kid, I kid. Maybe…

The Bills got a tough one this Sunday against the Chiefs. Game time is 1pm.

GO BILLS!

Same Bills Time, Same Bills Channel

Hello all,

The Bills take on the Bengals this Sunday at 1pm. How do you think Thad Lewis will do? Finding a decent backup after Kolb went down kinda highlights a major oversight of the front office. C’mon guys. I’m not going to even mention having to bring back Moorman. Whoops, I guess I just did. Welcome back MVP Moorman!  Perhaps I should cut them some slack for bringing in the Legend of Kiko? Robert Woods too perhaps. Almost there (again).

Thursday Game

Hello all,

Well, well, well. What a difference a week makes, eh? THAT was more like it.

How long before the store716.com guys come up with a “I’m with Kiko” Conan O’Brien-esque shirt? Someone please start that meme (if it hasn’t been started already).

The Bills are at Cleveland on Thursday. Game time is 8:25. I just hope the guys have enough time to get healed up with the shortened rest. We have a lot of guys banged up… BillsDaily has all the latest: http://www.billsdaily.com/

To answer a lot of your questions I got after last week’s e-mail, YES of course we’re showing Thursday’s game with sound and with the same drink specials. For this week only, on top of the regular specials there will be a $3 beer and $3 drink option if you don’t want the regular specials.

That’s all for now.

Bills vs Ravens, Sabres, & Yonkers

Hello all,

Hey we heard from the Jets who informed us we sold over 500 tickets to Sunday’s game! Too bad the team didn’t reward our effort. Sheesh, growing pains seem to be a chronic 15+ year condition. Anyway, how was the tailgate?

I’ll keep this one relatively short…

The Bills are home against the Raven’s this Sunday at 1pm. You know the deal. If not, here is the deal:
https://www.nycbbb.com/features/drink-specials-times/

HOCKEY!
I’m not much of a hockey fan myself. But I did go to a Rangers vs. Sabres game with a large group of us a few years ago. Our numbers were definitely noticed. Even drawing a running  and very goofy double middle finger from some bratty 8ish year old Ranger fan. Where were the parents!?!? Probably encouraging it…

Anyway, the Islanders reached out to us and they are offering us a great deal on tickets to a bunch of games, including Tuesday, October 15 against the Sabres! Here is the info:
http://www.targetlocalweb.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/NYCBBB.pdf

YONKERS!
Is there anyone in Westchester looking for a place to catch the game? Maybe NYC is too much of a hassle to get to… Burkes Bar at 645 Bronx River Road, Yonkers, NY (914-237-5137) is showing Bills games. It’s a great bar. AND it’s right down the street from where I was born and raised (not that that means anything, but it would have been pretty cool if it was there and showing Bills games when I was a kid).

Jets Game and Tailgate Info, Volunteers Needed

Hello all 2,166 of you loyal fans,

Usually on tailgate week we get questions left and right. I don’t know whether to be relieved or nervous that it’s been pretty quiet. Is everything clear on our tailgate information page? Bookmark this page–all updates will be posted here:
https://www.nycbbb.com/notes/bills-jets-tailgate-info-2/

We need volunteers to do 3 things:
1) Bring beer from McFadden’s to the tailgate. McFadden’s will provide some beer as long as someone can get it to the tailgate.
2) Bring ice and coolers for the beer. Or else it’ll be British style, like last year.
3) Bring garbage bags (see tailgate info page about the embarrassing mess we left last year).

Anyone?

Also McFadden’s and Calicos are still showing the game as always. Same specials as always. Remember the game is at 4:25.

GO BILLS!

Thank You and Tailgate Info

Hello all,

What a difference a week makes, eh? We all know what happened. No need for me to recap. Does EJ look composed or what? Sorry I couldn’t resist…

Our celebration was included on BuffaloBills.com along with our friends in Santa Monica and Boston! Check it out:
https://blogs.buffalobills.com/2013/09/16/must-see-bills-fan-reaction-around-the-country/

Eric Wood also retweeted the video. And they played the audio on WGR yesterday morning. Niiiiiiiiiiiice.

I think we’re a very close second to the reaction at the Ralph:

Tailgate info:
Rather than make this the longest e-mail in NYCBBB history, I decided to put all tailgate info together on one page. Please, if you have any questions just e-mail, twitter, or facebook me. I will likely put the answer on the page then e-mail you back the link. This is so I don’t have to type the same things over an over. We need some volunteers, see the page for details and let me know. Here is all the info you need:
https://www.nycbbb.com/notes/bills-jets-tailgate-info-2/

Please pass the tailgate info on!

The Jambrones
The Jambrones are donating proceeds of sales of their new song to support Sally. Who are The Jambrones? In their own words: “We write big dumb songs about our beloved Buffalo sports teams. What started out as a joke has turned in to a fun tradition for us to write and record original music together and make it about the Bills and Sabres. It’s corny, goofy, and fun.”

Here is their new song:

Thank You!
Thank you all for making our #supportsally fundraising raffle a success. We met our goal. It’s heartwarming to see such compassion and generosity.

McFadden’s & Calicos deserve a big thank you. Let’s just say they are always ready come gametime (literally and figuratively). Pete Francese, John Ciccia, Dan (aka Soupie) made sure we were in good hands. John and I were reminiscing a little. Things didn’t always run so smoothly during some of our early years. But since Pete and John took over, things changed for the much much better. They are true friends, not just partners.

For those of you who don’t know. John actually originally won BOTH grand prizes. No huge surprise because of odds and his generosity. I swear we shook up the tickets throughout the day! John decided to put the prizes back and had us draw again so “Bills fans could win.” Awesome.

Pete also came up with and delivered on the idea to “sell” a guaranteed reserved table at McFadden’s, which NYCBBB member Emmitt (sorry didn’t get last name) took him up on. All going to #supportsally. Pete also was the super smooth emcee.

Among many other things, Soupie had the task of relaying the info from McFadden’s to Calicos. He also made sure to come get us to go over to Calicos for willing raffle participants. I shouldn’t be surprised he went the extra mile.

Thank you to all who donated items:

And I have to thank Phil Mann for all of his help in brainstorming, planning and coordinating.

NYCBBB is truly a very large family.
