Hello 650 Bills Fans;

It’s quite nice to see the Bills put up back to back wins against New York errrr New Jersey area teams. We got back a little respect. Got a little redemption for the trouncing the Jets handed us in the Meadowlands. Most importantly, prevented any trash talking from co-workers.

There were quite a few Jets fans at McFadden’s on Sunday. Something I’m not proud of… Anyway sometime in the 4th quarter, I asked one Jets fan how it felt to be losing. How it felt to be watching the beating in OUR house on OUR TVs. He didn’t answer. But he asked ME how it felt to watch the Bills lose so bad against the Jets earlier in the season. Welp… I lowered my voice, lowered my head, and pretended for just a sec that he got me. Just as the jerk thought I was backing down, I popped back up and said “I REMEMBER EXACTLY HOW IT FELT!!! IT FELT A LOT LIKE HOW YOU FEEL RIGHT NOW!!!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

We want you!
We want to see all you there Sunday as the Bills take on the Titans at 1pm. And you know… The Bills are NOT out of it! I was not happy about the low turnout on Sunday. Yeah, yeah, yeah. There was some snow. And the game was televised… Unless you went to The Ralph, I don’t want to hear it!

Official Tailgate Spot
Before a lot of Bills home games, a lot of you ask Matt K. or me “who else is going up?” or “where’s the best spot to tailgate?” That’s why Matt and I decided to make Kenny’s “Red Pinto” tailgate the official NYCBBB tailgate location for all Bills home games! Kenny runs a well known tailgate and has even been filmed a few times by NFL Films. So anyone going up, make sure you stop by Kenny’s tailgate and be sure to tell him you represent the NYCBBB.

Hello 625 Bills Fans!

I want to thank everyone for the tremendous turnout on Sunday and the outstanding outpouring of support towards the raffle. The $1,015 we raised was mailed to the Bledsoe Foundation first thing on Monday morning.

Mac, Barbara, and Drew were on NBC’s Today Show earlier this week. One of Barbara and Mac’s former students, who was also one of Drew’s classmates, had tracked them down to thank them for positively influencing his life.

Our Segment
The CBS special that they filmed part of at McFadden’s on Sunday will air late December. Oh you know we’ll let everyone know exactly when as soon as we find out.

Bills
Yep, it’s a rough season so far. Like me, I’m sure everyone’s expectations were set high for this year’s team. Ah! We face the Texans this week. I GUARANTEE VICTORY!!! So come on out, drink some beer, eat some wings, and watch the Bills take some frustrations out on the Texans! The game is at 1pm. It’s been a while since we had a 1pm game.

Hey 600 Bills Fans (that’s right! 6 freakin’ hundred!!!),

I touched on this a bit in the last e-mail…

I was napping on my couch a few weeks ago – half asleep watching TV – after a long boring day at work. I heard the phone ring. I figured my fiancée would answer it. That’s when she says, “you might want to get up, the Caller ID says Drew Bledsoe!”

Well it wasn’t Drew, but Drew’s father, Mac Bledsoe, calling from The Drew Bledsoe Foundation. We chatted a bit, then got down to business…

The foundation sent each Bills Backer chapter an autographed football to raffle off. All of the proceeds from the raffle are to benefit the Drew Bledsoe Foundation and their Parenting With Dignity program.

Parenting With Dignity is a non-profit 501(c)(3) parent education organization whose mission is to improve the lives of children by promoting and teaching effective parenting skills. The Parenting With Dignity curriculum presents effective techniques for raising responsible, independent children.

Now on to business… This Sunday, we will raffle off the prized autographed football. Tickets will be $5 each. We’re going to offer bonus chances!!! You can purchase 3 tickets for $10 or 5 tickets for $15.

We have a goal to reach. We want to top $500 before the drawing. If we exceed $500, the drawing will take place immediately after the game. If we fall short, we’ll extend the raffle until the Dallas game.

A little sidenote… When chatting with Mac, he mentioned that he was absolutely ecstatic about the fan support he and Drew receive from Bills fans. I told him that is our nature. I let him know that a packed McFadden’s bar is full of Bills fans pulling for his son each week!

I hope all of you will take part in the raffle. It’s a good chance to win a nice piece of memorabilia and a great opportunity to support a worthy cause!

So be there for a chance to win!!! The game is Sunday night at 8:30 against the Chiefs. We looked much better against the Skins, no? We have the swagger back! I also like the matchup of our 3rd ranked D against their 11th ranked O! Plus, the early word is that Eric Moulds will very likely be back in action.

The Ralph
If anyone was wondering where I was on Sunday, I was representing NYCBBB at the Ralph. I can’t even to begin to describe the energy of the crowd. I think I lost my voice half way through the Sam Adams pickoff return. I gained it back briefly when the “chowda, chowda, chowda” chant aimed at the handful of Pats fans in our section began. I’ll be back at McFadden’s on Sunday, with my voice back, sitting with the honorable Matt K. Stop by and say hi!

T-Shirt sightings
We got reports that there were several NYCBBB t-shirt sightings at the Ralph! We’re thankful to those who represented us. That puts a big huge NYCBBB stamp on the map!

Other news
Matt K. is biking 53 miles tomorrow, so if we don’t see him Sunday, fear the worst. Just kidding! I wish him the best of luck. I hope he remembers to wear some padded shorts. Biking that long can make you ummmm errrrrr a little saddle sore.

Hello all,

We’ve grown considerably in just one year. Last year, around this time, we had a little over a hundred names on our mailing list. Right now, we have over 460. That leads us to want to reach a new milestone before the season opener in just two weeks. Ladies and gentlemen, the drive for 5 hundred is on! It is your duty to pass the word to any and all Bills fans you come into contact with!!!

Preseason
Knock on wood. So far the Bills have escaped the injury bug. The O looked back in form against the Rams. Moulds is an animal! Injuries to Jonas Jennings (concussion) and Travis Henry (twisted foot) turned up to be very minor. The Jets suffered the opposite fate – losing Pennington 12 weeks to a wrist injury. The Bills final preseason game is this Thursday against the Lions. Again, McFadden’s won’t be showing it, but you may want to check with ESPN Zone. I had no luck on the phone with them last time, but it’s worth a shot.

First Year Anniversary and Draft Day Party
Just a quick reminder that we will be holding our first year anniversary and NFL Draft party at McFadden’s this Saturday!

Join your fellow NYC Buffalo Bills fans and watch Tom Donahoe continue his off-season magic. From 12-6pm, McFadden’s will offer $30 for all the draft beer (excluding Guinness, Bass, and Harp) and wings you can eat!!!

Please e-mail Matt Kabel if you plan to attend. This will give us an estimate and help McFadden’s adequately staff the event.

Washington D.C. and Baltimore Area Bills Backers

A few quick items. You didn’t think we’d go away in the off-season, did you?

NYCBBB’s design a logo contest!
The first year of the rebuilt Bills Backers club in New York City was a huge success. We currently have over 400 members and we’re still growing. We’re still always looking for areas to tweak and improve. One thing that would be great to have is a nicer looking banner and logo for our site, t-shirts, and other correspondence.

Since I admit that I’m no graphics expert (the current banner and logo was cut and pasted together crudely), we want to tap on the shoulders of fellow members, and friends of fellow members, who might be more proficient in graphic design. So here’s an opportunity for you or someone you know to showcase master design skills.

To enter, simply e-mail me and tell me you’re interested. The deadline to enter the contest is February 11th. Design specifications will be sent out shortly after. Contestants will then have 2 weeks to submit their work. Once all the entries are received, we’ll give NYCBBB members the opportunity to vote for their favorite. The winner will get full credit for the design, and will have the opportunity to promote their service (if it’s indeed graphic design that you do for a living) by having a page on our site dedicated to the winner. Remember the deadline to enter is 2/11!!!

Arena Football Anyone?
