Brian O’Shea, our Fan of the Week, is from NYC and was raised a Bills fan on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. He learned about NYCBBB when Matt Kabel saw him on the street wearing a London Fletcher (favorite player) jersey and handed him a business card with the organization’s information. He started going to Calico Jack’s this year and had to stand the first two games but said it was well worth it, “all about Calicos this season, love it”.
His favorite Bills-related memory was going to the motherland for the Bills/Falcons game. His worst? You guessed it, the Super Bowls. Demonstrating his hate of the Patriots, he would cut off Tom Brady’s right arm if ever left in a room with him.
Wouldn’t we all, Brian? Wouldn’t we all…
Born in Dublin, Ireland, Norman moved here in 1994. He didn’t follow football before he moved here. In 1994 he met me (Anna) and has been a Bills fan ever since.
Kevin, of unknown age, but approximated to be about 23 years old, came to McFadden’s on Sunday wearing his custom-made, red, “SQUISH THE FISH” t-shirt with a buffalo spray-painted on the back.
Anthony, a graduate of Geneseo Community College, hails from Brooklyn and has been a Bills fan for 16 years. As we all know, being a Bills fan in NYC is tough, so Anthonly started going to Brother Jimmies (yeah, the place that Kicked us Bills fans to the curb) to watch games. However, the crowds were small (haha!) and he craved a ‘true’ Bills atmosphere which lead to his discovering of his new home on Sundays, McFadden’s! In fact, the only other place he’s rather be, The Ralph! Anthony’s favorite Bill of all time is Jim Kelly, and he likes JP Losman but feels he needs to tone it down and then we’ll have a chance!
First and foremost I must point out that this Orchard Park native’s name is not just a clever coincidence. Ms. Beers, or “Bud Lite,” as I’ve aptly named her for her fine performance before, during, and after the Texans game last weekend, could easily be mistaken for a Jill at first sight. However, it is rumored that as a child she was such a die hard fan that she tried to change her fantastic name from ‘Beers’ to ‘Bills.’ Later in life, after discovering that smooth, tasty, golden liquid, she gladly reconsidered and now enjoys both words each and every Sunday with us down at McFadden’s.
This week’s fan of the week honors goes to…
Nathan was born and raised in North Buffalo and a Bill fan from the womb. He was in town on Sunday and knew McFadden’s was the place to be.
Bob is a Town of Tonawanda native who has been a Bills fan for as long as he can remember, and still holds season tickets despite living in New York City for the past 20 years.
Sabine is from Lewiston; and, like everyone from the Buffalo/Niagara region, grew up a die hard Bills fan. She moved to NYC after law school, and kept up-to-date on the Bills by visiting football websites. She found a link to NYCBBB on the official Bills website and has been a regular at McFadden’s ever since.
Ella has been a Bills fan for her entire life, all two years and nine months of it. She attended her first Bills game in utero and her Mom, an East Aurora native, taught her to say “let’s go Buffalo” as soon as she started speaking. There was no avoiding being a Bills fan as her Mom’s parents, four brothers, two sisters and entire extended family are rabid Bills fans. Ella’s uncle Tim introduced her to McFadden’s Sunday and she had a great time watching the Bills squish the fish. Hopefully she’ll convert her future schoolmates into Bills fans.
