Hey NYCBBB,
Well. How are we doing? What a week. A week that started in an unimaginably horrific way and has ended with the kind of joy and relief that 72 hours ago we were nervous to even hope for. Damar Hamlin, after collapsing and suffering cardiac arrest on Monday Night Football, has made remarkable progress towards recovery and the Bills, the city of Buffalo, and all of Bills Mafia can breathe again knowing that he will be okay, though we know he still has a long road ahead of him. With our team 12-3 and atop the AFC East we have certainly had plenty of highs this year, but there is no denying the heart wrenching lows that this team and our fanbase have had to endure, with this week being especially hard. But I can’t help but think back on the famous poem that coach Marv Levy quoted to his Bills team following the heartbreaking loss of Super Bowl XXV:
“’Fight on my men’, Sir Andrew said. ‘I am hurt, but I am not slain. I’ll lay me down and bleed a while, and then I’ll rise and fight again.’”
If there is any team that can, in fact, rise and fight again, it is OUR Buffalo Bills. With the energy gained by the amazing news out of Cincinnati and the encouragement of #3 and his family to charge forward and work towards the ultimate goal that this team has set for itself, Josh Allen and the Bills will return home to Orchard Park for what will surely be an emotionally charged game against the New England Patriots. Speaking personally, I cannot wait to be with all of you at Penn 6 this Sunday. Football is family, and in our darkest moments it is so healing to be together and proclaim loudly and proudly how the Bills make us wanna SHOUT!
In honor and support of Damar Hamlin and his family, we will have a couple of special things happening at Penn 6 this weekend! Our weekly fundraiser will be a 50/50 on Sunday, with half of the money raised going directly to Damar’s Chasing M’s Go Fund Me, as well as collecting donations to add to the total. The bar will also be offering a “3 for $33” appetizer special off the game menu (with a couple restrictions), so be sure to bring your cash and your appetite!
Reservations are being taken by email as usual for tables, (email buffalobillspenn6nyc@table95.com) and for standing room at the bar you don’t need a reservation, but we recommend arriving early. This will truly be a celebration to remember.
Looking forward to seeing you Sunday. GO BILLS!
