New Logo Contest!

What’s up NYCBBB?!

Are you excited for the season yet? It’s hard to believe it’s already July and our Bills take the field for pre-season football in just a few short weeks! And this year our regular season opens against the New York Jets (and some guy they picked up in free agency, haven’t heard of him…) on Monday Night Football at the Meadowlands! It’s going to be such an exciting start to what will hopefully be a very memorable season, and we’re excited to share every moment with you!

Which brings us to the reason we’re writing you. Our Bills Backers chapter has been operating for over 20 years, and while we love our original logo we also think it’s time to mix things up. That’s where you come in! We’re accepting submissions for a new NYC Bills Backers logo! This logo will be featured on all of our socials, our website, and on new merchandise that will be sold this season to benefit Brian Moorman’s PUNT Foundation which serves families navigating pediatric cancer. If you submit the winning design, you will receive a free bracelet for unlimited food and drinks at Penn 6 ALL SEASON LONG. I mean, come on. That’s a LOT of wings and Labbatt Blue.

We will pick the top three designs and put them to a vote on Instagram to select our winner. All designs must include:

  • “New York City Bills Backers”, in some capacity
  • Be recognizably New York
  • “Est. 2002”

We have some more exciting announcements coming your way soon, especially around planned activities for Week 1, so be sure to follow us on social media and keep an eye out for more emails from us.

The rest is up to you! Please submit your design to staff@nycbbb.com by Friday, July 21st, then keep an eye out for the online vote on our Instagram stories (@nycbillsbackers) the following week!

LETS GO BUFFALO!

Bills vs. Patriots, celebrating Damar Hamlin

Hey NYCBBB,

Well. How are we doing? What a week. A week that started in an unimaginably horrific way and has ended with the kind of joy and relief that 72 hours ago we were nervous to even hope for. Damar Hamlin, after collapsing and suffering cardiac arrest on Monday Night Football, has made remarkable progress towards recovery and the Bills, the city of Buffalo, and all of Bills Mafia can breathe again knowing that he will be okay, though we know he still has a long road ahead of him. With our team 12-3 and atop the AFC East we have certainly had plenty of highs this year, but there is no denying the heart wrenching lows that this team and our fanbase have had to endure, with this week being especially hard. But I can’t help but think back on the famous poem that coach Marv Levy quoted to his Bills team following the heartbreaking loss of Super Bowl XXV:

“’Fight on my men’, Sir Andrew said. ‘I am hurt, but I am not slain. I’ll lay me down and bleed a while, and then I’ll rise and fight again.’”

If there is any team that can, in fact, rise and fight again, it is OUR Buffalo Bills. With the energy gained by the amazing news out of Cincinnati and the encouragement of #3 and his family to charge forward and work towards the ultimate goal that this team has set for itself, Josh Allen and the Bills will return home to Orchard Park for what will surely be an emotionally charged game against the New England Patriots. Speaking personally, I cannot wait to be with all of you at Penn 6 this Sunday. Football is family, and in our darkest moments it is so healing to be together and proclaim loudly and proudly how the Bills make us wanna SHOUT!

In honor and support of Damar Hamlin and his family, we will have a couple of special things happening at Penn 6 this weekend! Our weekly fundraiser will be a 50/50 on Sunday, with half of the money raised going directly to Damar’s Chasing M’s Go Fund Me, as well as collecting donations to add to the total. The bar will also be offering a “3 for $33” appetizer special off the game menu (with a couple restrictions), so be sure to bring your cash and your appetite!

Reservations are being taken by email as usual for tables, (email buffalobillspenn6nyc@table95.com) and for standing room at the bar you don’t need a reservation, but we recommend arriving early. This will truly be a celebration to remember.

Looking forward to seeing you Sunday. GO BILLS!

Bye Week & Important Thanksgiving Day Poll

Happy Friday all 2,242 NYC Bills Backers!

What’s going on, you beautiful group of WINNERS!?  Man it feels good to be 4-1, doesn’t it?  The mornings are smoother, the work drama a little easier to bear, food tastes better.  I might be in love with this team.  Of course it’s no time to be cocky, we’ve been here before.  Trent Edwards brought us to a 4-1 start in 2009 and we all know how that ended up.  But I don’t know, this team feels different.  As a friend put it to me, it doesn’t feel flukey this time around.  As Bills fans we always shore ourselves up for disappointment, but all I know is that I’m going to enjoy the ride.  And right now the ride has us controlling our own wildcard destiny in the AFC and only one game behind the Pats in the division.  Not mad about that at all.  And after the team was starting to look a bit banged up, this week off couldn’t have come at a better moment.  A week of rest and then we head back home to face a struggling Miami team.  LET’S EFFING GO.

And how about the Buffalo invasion of Nashville?!  Reports had Bills fans making up almost half of the entire crowd in NashBILL’s Nissan Stadium, and pictures showed a complete take over of downtown all weekend long.  We drank through their booze, we partied in their streets, and then we stole the W in their house.  All in all a solid Sunday showing.

Not to be outdone, those of us who didn’t travel had plenty of fun here in NYC!  Public House was once again rocking, complete with a T-Rex pouring shots all over the bar.  This place knows how to party, and just because it’s the bye doesn’t mean we need to take the weekend off.  Our friends at Public House will be open and showing the games this weekend with specials for Bills fans!

  • $4 Labatt drafts
  • $5 select drafts
  • $6 house wines
  • $7 well drinks
  • $6 Tullamore Dew shots (no current word on whether they will be served by a dinosaur)

These specials will start for the 1:00 game so come on down and keep that liver in mid-season form as you cheer on your fantasy team and eye our future competition.  What else are you going to do on a Sunday in the fall?  Go to a pumpkin patch?  Exactly.  See you at the bar.  And tag us on social media as always!!  We’re on Facebook (New York City Buffalo Bills Backers), Instagram (@nycbillsbackers) and Twitter (@nycbbb), and we do our best to respond to all inquiries within 24 hours.  Be sure to tag us in your posts as well, we love seeing how you are enjoying watching OUR Buffalo Bills during this exciting season!

Thanksgiving Game
As we plan for the rest of the season, we’ve been figuring out what to do for Bills/Cowboys on Thanksgiving. We’ve talked to the staff at Public House and they are willing to open and offer our normal Sunday specials as long as we have enough fans planning to come to watch the game there. If you’re not going out of town for the holiday, or you just want to avoid family this Turkey Day, let us know that you’d like to come to the bar! If we get enough positive responses the bar will accommodate us and you’ll be able to party hard because you don’t have to work the next day! Please take the poll here https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/YVF9J2K (or on Instagram!) and let us know your plans. We’ll announce the outcome soon!

Sabres Games at Public House
The Bills aren’t the only Buffalo team off to a strong start! The Sabres are coming in hot and it got us thinking. As a group we struggled this week to think of go-to spots to see the Sabres, outside of maybe Kelly’s on the LES. Would you be interested in watching games at our new home? The link above also inquires about whether or not there is interest in the bar showing Buffalo hockey! We have options for once a month viewing parties, more regular games, or the bar offering to show them all! Be sure to respond to the poll so we can support the bar in making this decision, and of course GO SABRES!!

Alright, time for me to go cry in the corner because there’s no Bills football this Sunday.  See you all at the bar for the less exciting games!

LET’S GO OUR 4-1 BUFFALO BILLS!

Bills at Titans

Hello all 2,240 NYC Bills Backers!

Happy Friday to all and welcome to the weekend!  The week following a loss is never as fun as a week following a win, but walking away from our 16-10 loss to New England last week we still have a lot to be excited about.

  • Our defense is who we thought they were.  They held Tom Brady to a 45.9 passer rating, the fifth lowest rating of his career and the lowest ever in a win.  The lowest since 2006.  That’s something to be proud of.
  • Frank.  Gore.  What a beast!!  Surpassing 15,000 career yards rushing in our loss to the Pats, Frank Gore showed no signs of slowing down as he accumulated 109 years on the day.
  • We almost won!  Even with four turnovers we were within reach of the win up until the very end, and if it weren’t for that crazy special teams blocked punt TD or our missed FG it could have been a completely different outcome.  Let’s keep our heads held high!

We obviously still have plenty of room for improvement.  Josh Allen made a bunch of rookie bad calls trying to make the play instead of throwing the ball away, and of course those risky decisions cost us a lot.  And we’re still not sure if he’ll complete the concussion protocol by Sunday to be ready to play.  But lessons were learned last week and I billieve we take those lessons to Nashville and take down the Titans.  #Billsmafia are already invading Tennessee, so it will likely be more like a home game than an away game at Nissan stadium.  Let’s make it 4-1!

Public House was quite the party last week, and this week promises to be no different.  Doors open at 10:00am, tables are seated at 11:00am, drink specials start at noon and last until the end of the game!  We had a good number of people standing in the table area last week which will likely be limited this week to ensure those with reservations have unobstructed views and the servers can navigate the space, so be sure to arrive early to secure a space to watch our victory!

As always, take care of your waitresses, bartenders, and all Public House staff!  And if you have any feedback for us about your experience at the bar you can reach us through our social media pages!

PUNT FOUNDATION
Our fundraiser for Brian Moorman’s PUNT Foundation in Western NY to raise money for families battling childhood cancer is still ongoing. The post is pinned to the top of our Facebook page, so please consider going to donate.  The organization will be at Public House for a game this season where we’ll hold our annual fundraiser for them.

Is it Sunday yet??!!?  LET’S GO BUFFALO!!!!

Patriots at Bills

Hello all 2,240 NYC Bills Backers!

What a week!  Despite a couple of close calls, we’re still undefeated going into Week 4 and we’re about to face a substantial test when the Patriots come to town.  There has been a lot of talk this week, even from Brady and Belichick, about just how loud #billsmafia is at home, and with our defense looking pretty lights out last week this shouldn’t be a walk in the park for the Pats.  We’ll see if Josh Allen can continue his clutch streak and lead the team to our first 4-0 start since 2008.  Billieve!!

Public House has been the best spot in town to catch our winning ways, and this Sunday will be no different!  Doors open at 10:00am, and be sure to arrive early because all of the tables in the dining room were reserved by Tuesday!  As always, drink specials start at noon and end when the game ends.  Where else would you rather be?

Be sure to take care of your waitresses, bartenders, and all Public House staff!  They’re taking great care of us!  And be sure to look out for falling confetti!

Until we convene on Sunday, make sure you’re following us on social media!  We’re on Facebook (New York City Buffalo Bills Backers), Instagram (@nycbillsbackers) and Twitter (@nycbbb), and on each platform we’re posting unique content, giveaways, and all of the information you know to be prepared to watch OUR Buffalo Bills make a run for the post-season.

PUNT FOUNDATION
September in Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, as always NYCBBB is teaming up with the PUNT Foundation in Western NY to raise money for families battling childhood cancer. We’re raising money on our Facebook page, and we’ve already raised almost $500!  We’ll keep the fundraiser posted, so please consider going to donate.  The organization will be at Public House for a game this season where we’ll hold our annual fundraiser for them.

See you Sunday, and GO BILLS!
