Happy Friday! Pretty uneventful week, eh?

Jim Kelly is cancer free! Off the field, we got a glimpse of what “Kelly Tough” is all about. So happy for Jimbo and family!

Oh, now I remember… The Bills won! Were YOU doubting these guys? I wasn’t! {cough, cough}

Seriously though, it occurred to me while a lot of attention was given to whether or not EJ would be good or not and to finding a solid backup, the defense was overlooked.

As my dad used to say when good things would happen back to back to back, “quick, play lotto.”

You all know the deal. Same place, same time. Same everything, except this week we have the hated Dolphins. Hey, let’s match the energy that’ll surely be palpable at the Ralph.

Hello all,

As many of you already know, NYCBBB co-founder Matt Kabel’s baby daughter Sally has been battling Leukemia for a little over a year. We’ve all been following along on their site, http://www.sweetsallysunshine.com/, and Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/SweetSallySunshine and trying to help when we can.

Recently, there was a request for the Empire State Building to light up gold to raise awareness of childhood cancer. September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Not only was the request rejected, but it was done on a cold impersonal letterhead template. The same Empire State Building that went green for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, won’t go gold for sick children.

Parents’ and friends’ appeals on the Empire State Building Facebook page haven’t been ignored. They’ve been deleted. Heartless.

There is an ongoing campaign to change this. #empiregogold is gaining steam on Facebook and Twitter. And beyond just online. Matt and Nicole were interviewed on Fox 5. The Today’s Show aired a segment on the campaign with a bunch of supporters rallying on. The Daily News ran a story of Bay Ridge City Councilman Vincent Gentile’s own appeal being ignored.

Lets help. I ask you fellow NYCBBBers to get behind the effort and get the Empire State Building to have a heart and go gold. Spread the word.

Preseason:
McFadden’s will be showing the Steelers game REPLAY, which is televised on the NFL Network on Sunday 8/17 at 12 noon.

Next Saturday’s game against Tampa will be aired live.

Have you been seeing Sammy’s spectacular catches and jukes? I can’t wait for the real season.

What did you think of Andre’s induction speech? I love that he got the fans involved. ¾ of the crowd must have been Bills fans. Also the Jim Kelly moment was very touching.

Kind of a shaky first preseason game, eh? I hope EJ works out his timing and passing lanes. 5 preseason games too much? I say they need the practice.

Preseason Games
Here is the status of games shown at the bars. Unfortunately there is nothing we can do. We go through this every year.

• Carolina: Unfortunately we can’t show the Carolina game. The game isn’t live in our area and the replays are at inconvenient hours.
• Pittsburgh: McFadden’s will show the Steelers REPLAY, which will air on the NFL Network on Sunday 8/17 at 12 noon.
• Tampa Bay: McFadden’s will show the LIVE Tampa Bay game, which is 4:30 pm on Saturday 8/23.
• Detroit: Unfortunately we can’t show the Lions game. The game isn’t live in our area and the replays are at inconvenient hours.

Hey, 3 out of 5 isn’t bad.

As far as other preseason games go. McFadden’s will show them if they are televised live and if the replay is shown at a reasonable time. Unfortunately there is no way to show the live game if NFL Network isn’t broadcasting it live.

Tonight on the NFL Network at 8pm, the highlights of the 2013 season will air along with a tribute to Ralph Wilson. Our very own NYCBBB alum Michelle Girardi Zumwalt worked on the show. As she put it, ” Lots of love went into this one.”

Fitting, as Matt Kabel noticed, that the show airs on 7/16, which led Mr. Kabel to declare 7/16 as Annual Buffalo Day. Do we all agree?

It’s never too early to start planning our yearly invasion of MetLife Stadium, eh? I mean tailgate, not invasion. Or do I? mwahahahahahaha

The Jets have set us up with group rates again. And why shouldn’t they? We bought almost 500 tickets last year!

• Upper Endzone tickets for $50 (face value of $60)
• Upper Corner/Sideline for $65 (face value of $95)

!!!Parking passes are not available yet. They will be available for $25 per parking pass. I will let you know when they are available for sale. They can be purchased separately!!!

We WILL be having a tailgate again. More details will come nearer the date, but here are some if you are curious:

• If you are driving, you’ll need a parking pass.
• If you are not driving, you can still come to the location.
• It’s bring your own food and drinks.
• The bar supplies some beer, but it goes very quickly.

Of course if you buy tickets they will be together. I got a lot of questions last year about how our entire group of seats are spread out. Here is some info from Brian himself:

“Depending on the timing of everything is where it can sometimes get spread out. For example with last year, the first say 250-300 people that bought were all in the same sections and pretty tightly grouped together. Once we started going over where we thought the group would be #’s wise it started to get a little more scattered, and with orders closer to the game they were likely a little further apart.

This year, since we are early and internally we’ve been able to coordinate the group seating a little better, I think we can keep the group even tighter grouped.”

Hello all,

It’s been a very eventful and emotional offseason thus far. As they say in show business, the show must go on.

It looks like the Bills have been filling in some big missing pieces through free agency. Something they’ve neglected to do for many of the last 14 years (in my opinion of course). Is this the year they REALLY put everything together?

As always, we’ll have a draft party (or parties) so we can watch the Bills continue to try to put together a playoff contender.

Here are the details:

• Thursday May 8: McFadden’s will have the first round of the draft televised with sound starting at 7pm, first pick at 8pm. From 7-11pm, the bar will offer $3 import drafts (including Blue), half priced drink specials, and free wings!
• Friday May 9: Same special with wings from 6-11pm for rounds 2-3 and will have the sound on shortly before/after the Bills pick (keep in mind its Friday night)
• Saturday May 10: All-you-can-drink/wing specials we use during the season from 11-4pm. https://www.nycbbb.com/features/drink-specials-times/
