News and Draft Party Pictures

Hi Everyone,

Well, well, well. That was an interesting and exciting draft. We landed both a burner at WR and a future QB – both in the first round! And over 80 people showed up to watch and have a good time.

Here’s a recap of the draft:
Round 1 #13 WR Lee Evans
Round 1 #22 QB J.P. Losman
Round 3 #74 DT Tim Anderson
Round 4 #109 TE Tim Euhus
Round 7 #207 OT Dylan McFarland
Round 7 #214 WR Jonathan Smith

The Bills traded up and sent their second round pick, fifth round pick, and next year’s number one pick to Dallas to grab Losman.

I’m not one to critique a draft without seeing they men on the field… That just makes me itch more in anticipation for the upcoming training camp and season!

The Bills have also been active in signing some undrafted free agents. Find all about the draft picks and free agent signings at
http://www.billsdaily.com/ .

Bledsoe Restructures:
Drew Bledsoe demonstrated his commitment to the team by restructuring his contract. He took a pay cut so the Bills can make more roster moves and to eliminate any distractions during the season. He also expressed his willingness to serve as mentor to Losman. I think Bledsoe will get back to early 2002 form. I think the offensive minded coaches, and the addition of a deep threat, will make us forget about last season’s woes.

Draft Party Pics:
Anna Bazzini came through once again by capturing the good times on film. Check out her pics:

Anyone else curious to see McGahee in action? There hasn’t been too much noise about him. I like Henry and all, but I want to see Willis in action too!

Testing 123

Hello all,

Besides working with McFadden’s to improve our group this off-season, we’ve been working on other areas too. Most recently, our website. Some of the changes may be transparent, but we’ve worked hard to improve two key areas:

Not only is the main message board page integrated with the design of the rest of the site, each message also has some of the same design elements. If you remember what the messages looked like before, you’d agree that they now look much neater and they’re easier to read. NOW GO POST SOMETHING THERE!

Our e-mail delivery
Well I’m giving it the first official test drive right now!!! We’ve invested in a service that will handle the delivery and manage our mailing list. It performs a bunch of helpful behind the scenes tasks that make our job much easier. Without getting too much into details, it’s a million times better than the manual system we had been using.

That said, now’s a good time to ask for suggestions for the site. What would you like to see? What can be improved? Anything at all…

Draft
Just another reminder that our 3rd annual draft party will be this Saturday. The party starts at 12pm. We have a $30 all you can drink and wings special from 12-7. For details, go to:
https://www.nycbbb.com/emails/2004/041504.shtml .

So I’m crossing my fingers and about to fire this e-mail off. Lets see what happens…

2003 Costs

Domain Name Registration – $20.00

2004 Costs
Web Hosting – $99.00

Total 2004 Costs = $233.95

Total 2003 and 2004 Costs = $352.95

Money raised on 12/5/04:
Money raised through 50/50 raffle: $320
Miscellaneous donations: $150
Total money raised = $470

Surplus to be carried over for 2005 expenses: $117.05

What are those expenses anyway?

Web hosting is the service we use to host our website, which in turn makes it available for everyone to see. This essential service is how many people find out about us. We use fatcow.com as our web host. The cost is $99 per year and is very reasonable for the great service they provide.

In addition to paying for a host, we have to register our domain name nycbbb.com. This costs $20 per year.

FTP Pro is a program we need to update our site. The $45 is a one time flat fee. FTP is used to send files back and forth to our web host, which in turn makes the files (like this very page) available for you all to see. For more info, visit ipswitch.com.

YMLP (your mailing list provider) is an e-mail newsletter management solution we selected to easily send our weekly e-mails to you all. The cost is $5 per month. It allows members to sign up and unsubscribe freely and helps us tremendously with the administration of our member list. Check them out at ymlp.com.

Promotion cards are business-like cards we hand out to Bills fans we encounter. We’ve printed out several batches already. We hand them out to Bills fans we find throughout the city. When we see a Bills fan on the street or in a bar, it’s easier to just give them a card instead of finding a pen and paper to write down all of our information. We have given out over 100 of these cards in the last few weeks and it’s turned out to be a great marketing tool.

That’s all of our expenses! Thank you to all who contributed!!!

Checking In

Hello all,

The Bills have been busy assembling a new coaching staff. It’s really starting to take shape! BillsDaily.com has been keeping careful track of all personnel moves. Check it out – http://www.billsdaily.com/frontoffice/

Draft Party
Just want to remind everyone that we will hold our 3rd annual draft party on April 24th – which also happens to be our 2nd anniversary. Yep, we got this started just 2 years ago (man time flies!) with a list of about 20 people. Now we’re at 650! McFadden’s will televise the draft, and we’ll have our drink/wing special in place for the occasion. The Bills have the 13th pick in the draft. It’ll be interesting to see who they go after…

Sabres
The Sabres are playing the Rangers at MSG tomorrow (Friday) at 7pm. I hear tickets are still available! Anyone going?

I hope to see you all in April.

Squish the Fish!

Hello 650 Bills fans;

Well we’re out of the playoffs. But there’s some good news! We can spoil playoff hopes for our most hated rival, the freakin stinkin no good Dolphins. Sunday, 12/21 is the Bills 2003 Super Bowl! I want to see numbers. Be there to see the Bills fillet the fish and continue the Dolphins yearly tradition – the December slide. DO NOT miss it!!! Watching a handful of highlights of a Dolphins butchery on ESPN does not compare to watching it with hundreds of fellow Bills fans.

Important note
Just a heads up… Next week’s game, the final game of the season, is SATURDAY 12/27.

I’ll see you all, yes ALL of you on Sunday!
