Johnny Utahs, PUNT Foundation Raffle

Hello all 2,000+ NYC Bills fans!

We’re only 24 hours from kickoff, seeing the masses of Bills fans heading south for the game is so awesome. I could have flown down for work as we’re doing an event in the stadium, but no. I’ve waited over 15 years for this moment, watching a Bills playoff game at McFadden’s. Nothing will stop me from watching it there with all of you and the guys we started it with. Soreco, me and the others will be sitting in the corner under the big screen in McFaddens, be sure to come say hello!

Couple quick additional announcements:

1) We added Johnny Utah’s as a 3rd viewing location for the game with the same specials/sound/Shout song as the other bars and weren’t sure if anybody would use it. Well, after 24 hours there’s already almost 100 RSVPs! They still have room so if you want a guaranteed spot, call now: 212.265.8824

2) Our friends at the Brian Moorman’s PUNT Foundation are flying in and will be raffling off an autographed Steve Hauschka helmet, a Lorenzo Alexander signed jersey and a Brian Moorman signed jersey (the MVP of the drought). All proceeds will go to families in Buffalo battling childhood cancer. While the Andy Dalton initiative has been great, let’s be sure to support the families in need in our own Queen City. I missed the Dolphins game at McFaddens as I was on my daughter’s Make A Wish trip after her own battle with cancer, I know personally how important the PUNT Foundation is to kids with cancer in Buffalo. Be sure to buy some tickets!

Last night William, my 8 year old, complained that there’s only 16 hours of footall to watch every season. No son, there’s at least 17 hours this year, let’s make it more.

THE PLAYOFFS! 3rd Watching Location Added

Hello all 2,000 NYC Bills Fans!

The P word happened.

A few weeks ago I was sitting at McFadden’s during a game with some of the old-timers who have been NYCBBB members for over a decade. I stared up at the 02 Bills jersey we mounted (signifying our group’s founding in 2002) several years before and said, “Man, all I want is to watch a Bills playoff game here, can you imagine the atmosphere?” I watched Bills games there (it was empty) in college with my brother since the drought’s beginning, and started the club with Matt Soreco shortly after, 15 years ago.

Soreco and I met our wives, had kids, changed careers and everything in between, but have never watched a Bills playoff game at McFadden’s or Calico’s. On Sunday evening when Bengals/Ravens game ended, we got our wish, and the wish of any Bills fan who has caught a game at either bar on 42nd and 2nd. Instantly my mind went to the faces of all of the fans who have caught games with us since we filled a small table in the dining room that very first game of our club. We even have people that haven’t watched a game with us in years flying in just to catch the game there this weekend.

This Sunday, the Bills take on the Jaguars IN THE PLAYOFFS at 1pm. There’s so much more I want to write (like how it’s not a coincidence that the first year Russ Brandon isn’t involved in football operations we make the playoffs), but we want to make sure every Bills fan in NYC can safely catch the game with their fellow fans. We’ve added a 3rd watching location, here’s the deal on all three:

McFADDEN’S

  • Same process and specials as always, these are going to be prime seats so imagine folks will be out there earlier than ever before to get in line.
  • It’s supposed to be freezing, please dress appropriately

CALICO JACK’S

  • Same process and specials as always, again, arrive early if you want a spot
  • All reservations were booked immediately, so bar and standing room only

JOHNNY UTAHS

  • Knowing how crowded the 42nd St bars will be, and knowing we have way more than the 2,000 members on this list, we’ve created a 3rd watching location in the McFadden’s/Calico’s Family
  • Located by Rockefeller Center (21 West 51st Street)
  • Will offer the same format as the other bars – same drink/wing specials, game/sound on all TVs and a DJ to play the Shout Song
  • They WILL take reservations, which am sure will fill up fast 212.265.8824
  • Oh…and they have a mechanical bull….

It’s finally happened, see you on Sunday, it’s been a long time coming. Let’s do this.

Bills @ Pats, Winter Classic, Sabres Road Crew

Hello all 2,000+ NYC Bills Fans!

When’s the last time we’ve been able to mention the P word so close to Christmas? It’s fitting that we need to beat out the Patriots and the Dolphins for a shot at it. I still think it’s a long shot, but Christmas is the time for miracles, no?

Head down to McFadden’s and Calico’s on Christmas Eve this Sunday to see us face off against the Patriots at 1pm. It’s a perfect time to bring the family coming in town to check out the magic on 5th Avenue then to come inside for a nice cold beer, wings and some Bills football.

Couple other announcements:

WINTER CLASSIC
I was fully planning on going to the Winter Classic when it was announced and making it my 8 year old’s first Sabres game. We’re going to be away for my daughter’s Make-A-Wish trip (the only thing that could stop me), but did speak to McFadden’s and they’ll be offering $4 drafts and $5 cocktails at their Citi Field location for Bills fans in need of the hair of the dog after New Year’s Eve.

SABRES ROAD CREW
In place of the Winter Classic, I’m now hoping to bring my kid to the 1/18 Sabres/Rangers game at MSG. The Sabres reached out to us and their Road Crew will be hitting McFadden’s on 1/17 in advance of the game. Tickets are $10 and Danny Gare, Rene Robert and Rob Ray will be on hand. Here is the flyer (https://www.nycbbb.com/images/RoadCrewNYCFlyer.jpg), see you there!

From all of us at NYCBBB, we want to wish you all a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year! Oh, and Go Bills, and Go Sabres!

Pats @ Bills

Hello all 2,000 NYC Bills Fans!

I tweeted before the game last week that being a Bills fan this long, I had a feeling they’d win. They’d cause fans to start thinking playoffs again so they could rip our hearts out again closer to Christmas.

And here we are. The Bills finally take on the Patriots today at 1pm in good ol’ Orchard Park. Now we’ll really see where we stand in the AFC East. C’mon down to 42nd and 2nd to catch the game (and your winning record Bills) at 1pm with your NYC Bills Backers. Rockefeller is lit up for Christmas so is a good excuse to come in for it.

Bills. Pats. Here we go.

Bills at Chiefs

Hello all 2,000+ NYC Bills fans!

Yeeeeeeaaahhhh…I will say I’m sticking with The Process. I said I wouldn’t whine or complain til at least season three as this organization was so messed up it’ll take time to turn the ship around.

Anyways, Tyrod Taylor is back at starter for the Bills as we head to take on the Chiefs. We are still in the playoff hunt. Game starts at 1pm and won’t be televised in NYC so there’s only one way to catch it with the masses. Take those in-laws or family members in town for Thanksgiving that you’re over by now down to McFadden’s/Calico’s and enjoy some drink, wings and football.

Chiefs did lose to the Giants so…

Bills vs LA Chargers

Hello all 2,000 NYC Bills fans,
Well, I mentioned in my last email that we’d see what kind of team we are last week. The result? I stopped watching in the 3rd quarter to go build some Ikea pieces.
Things got even more interesting this week when the Bills benched Tyrod for Peterman. I question the timing of the move, but I get it. Like I’ve said, Tyrod Taylor is not the answer to the QB problem, he’ll never get the Bills to the next level and plays a safe game (hence his padded stats). I do think he gives the team their best chance to win now, but also get seeing the value in what they have with Peterman. Again, if you’re of the thinking the Bills are rebuilding (and I think they are), and a Super Bowl is the goal and not just playoffs it makes sense.
Anyhow, the Bills take on the Chargers at 4:05pm. Head on down to McFadden’s and Calico’s to see what Peterman has. Specials start at 3:05 and run through the end of the game.
This should be…interesting…
Go Bills!

Bills vs. New Orleans

Hello all 2,000 NYC Bills Fans!

I’m still picking myself off the ground after we got absolutely trounced by the Jets last week.

One thing I want to address is an incident that happened at the tailgate. Apparently one of us jumped through a table and suffered a head injury which prompted ambulances to arrive. I hope this individual is OK, but also want to say that you’re not a Bills fan when you do that crap, you’re just an asshole. We’ve been doing this tailgate for over 15 years and have never had an issue like that.

The fans that are doing this stuff aren’t real fans, they’re an embarrassment. I blame the organization for putting on a losing team that was easier to market instead of winning games for so long where Sundays draw a crowd more interested in the party than the team. I’m looking at you Russ Brandon. I think with winning the real fans will return and this will go away eventually. If you’re a true Bills fan, you shouldn’t embrace this BS.

I should have known that’d be a precursor for the game. I ended up leaving the game in the 3rd quarter because it’s one that I’ve seen too many times over the last 17 years and decided I’d rather get the extra hour of sleep. I don’t think the Bills are that bad, nor do I think they’re the 5-2 team we’ve been seeing. Like most things, the truth sits somewhere in the middle.

This Sunday will probably give us a very accurate picture on who this team really is. The red-hot Saints come into Buffalo this weekend to take on a well-rested Bills team. Sounds like Charles Clay may be back on the field, and we’ll get our first look at Kelvin Benjamin.

Kickoff is Sunday at 1pm, and there’s no better place to catch the game than on 42nd/2nd with the NYCBBB. I keep reading that a 9-7 team may just make the playoffs this year, and I think the Bills still have a shot. I firmly believe they are heading in the right direction and are going to be a real contender in the coming years, and if that happens sooner than expected its just icing on the cake.

GO BILLS!

Bills @ Jets, Tailgate

Hello all 2,000+ NYC Bills Backers!

Holy cow, we’re 5-2. Let me say that again. The team that was supposed to be tanking is 5-2. Although any fan who remembers the last time we were 5-2 about to play the Jets…well…I’ll just leave it right there.

This team feels different though. Hell, the whole organization feels different. These are a ragtag bunch of players that other teams didn’t want, you can’t help but relate to them as a Western New Yorker or even just as a Bills fan. The Bills head to NYC to take on the NJ Jets tomorrow night at 8:25pm in the Meadowlands. This is huge, if we win this we are set up VERY nicely for the p…the…pl….I can’t do it, you get it.

Are you coming?!

If you haven’t been in the last few years, all of us Bills fans meet up in Lot 26. Basically, if you know that defunct mall structure by the stadium that has the ski ramp? If you were to drive up and off that ramp, you’d be in our tailgate. But please don’t do that. Just traded texts with Kenny/Pinto Ron and he will be there with his setup.

Here are all of the tailgate map/game/ticket details:
https://www.nycbbb.com/notes/bills-jets-tailgate-info-2/

A friend passed some tickets to me so I will be there, and yes I’m pretty damn excited. Last year I went to the season ender out there on New Year’s Day. The whole team was sitting on the bench by the 4th quarter getting blown out and remember how angry and disappointed I was to be a Bills fan. That to me was rock bottom for the drought, and hope we have a much better outcome this time around.

McFadden’s/Calico’s will be offering the following specials:

$5 drinks (top shelf mixed) and $5 drafts (all) along with $5 house wine. Also half price chicken wings. Special is free as long as you’re a Bills fan.

Let’s go Bills fans, let’s show them who the real New York team is!

Bills vs. Bucs

Hello all 2,000+ NYC Bills Fans!

First off, the MS Bike Tour is tomorrow, so there are several street closures around Manhattan. If you’re heading in for the game, take the trains.

I made it into McFadden’s for the Bengals game, was so great being back among Bills fans. I love seeing the old faces, but man, are there a lot of new faces. A couple folks introduced themselves, would love to meet more of ya as Sundays at the bars has always been like a big (crazy) family.

The outcome sucked obviously, we really need this offense to start producing or is gonna be a long season and a waste of a terrific defense. The Bucs coming to WNY will be a good test, especially for Tyrod. I’m happy Fitz isn’t playing, I hate rooting against that guy, I mean, how can you? And then Garrison Sanborn makes his return, he and his wife did a lot for childhood cancer families like ours in Buffalo through PUNT and are great people. Plus the Tampa/Sarasota area is essentially Buffalo South.

Alright…stop Matt…the Bucs are the enemy, go to town on them Buffalo! Let’s GOOOOOOOO!!!

The game’s at 1pm, you all know the drill with the specials. I couldn’t believe the size of the line getting into the bars before the game (actually I can as I’ve seen them for years, but it’s always amazing to see). Make sure you get there early to see if we can take advantage of a couple soft defenses coming our way in the coming weeks.

Hope you’re all taking advantage of the weather an grabbing your pumpkins or whatever….Sunday belongs to the football gods.

LET’S GO BUFFALO!!!

Bills vs. Cincy

Hello all 2,000 NYC Bills Fans!

Long time no talk, good god a lot has happened. Sorry, we moved homes so have been tied up unpacking the last few weeks, but have caught the games on our TV, which is presently sitting on the floor still. As stated previously, I wasn’t expecting much out of this season, but loved the direction our organization was headed in. The Pegulas finally removed Russ Brandon from all football decisions and handed that power over to real up-and-coming football guys. Are they the right guys? Who knows, but at least the thinking behind the moves was right, and said I’m willing to give them three years to right the ship.

Four games in, and look who is in first place in the AFC East? Never expected that, and it could all fall apart like the last 17 years, but it’s encouraging to see so many new guys stepping up with the release/trade of so many key players. There’s a nice core developing, and that’s all I personally wanted to see out of this year and confirm if T Taylor was the answer, which I still think…no.

Regardless, the team is fun to watch again, especially when they’re taking shots down field. Can’t imagine McCoy being stunted much longer. So why are you watching this excitement alone? Get down to McFadden’s and Calico’s and make some noise with your fellow Bills fans! Every Friday I wear my Bills hat on the subway, and every Friday I get a lot of “Go Bills” from Bills Mafia also doing the grind. There’s just no better way to watch a winning team. Yes…a winning team!

It’s also supposed to rain Sunday, what the hell else are you gonna do?

The Bills take on the high scoring Bengals offense this Sunday at 1pm. Will we win and retain the division lead, or drop down second with the Cheatahs?

Let’s GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
